The E-type Jaguar...known to Americans as the XKE,needs no introduction. IfEnzo Ferrari, a highly competitive man to say the least, declared it "the most beautiful car ever made”,that pretty much sets the ceiling in terms of praise ------ 50+ years later the E-type continues to be celebrated andhold its place in history.

The E-typewas introduced to the automotive world in 1961after years of speculation. The brainchild of Williams Lyons and a passionate team of advisors and designers, it was aptly named E-type, as it was a clear descendent from the accomplished C and D-Types that had been dominating racetracks. Jaguar took what it learned on the track and applied it to the E-type.The monocoque passenger compartment, tube framed engine bay and tilting hood clearly came from the D-Type. When the E-type came out it exhibited 265bhp at 5,500rmp, a 3,781cc double overhead camshaft inline six-cylinder engine, three carburetors, four-speed manual gearbox, independent front and rear suspension, four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes with rear discs fitted next to the differential to reduce unsprung weight, and importantly, it has a fully independent suspension for all four wheels.

In addition to being an engineering stroke of brilliance,the E-type was one of the most attractive, sensuous and evocative designs ever to grace an automobile chassis-as quoted by one automotive critic "sex on wheels”. CONDITION IS AS FOLLOWS(Rated 1-5, 5 being excellent)

·PAINT --- 5.0--- Stunning, exceptional job. No chips, flaws or dents anywhere.

·BODY SHEET METAL--- 5.0--- Body is straight, and panels all fit very well ---- much better than factory new.

·INTERIOR --- 5.0---Complete new factory correct Muncie Imports Interior; the best interior kit on the market. The work included the seats, door panels, all Hardura material behind the seats, carpeting, dash panel, etc. etc. CoolMat material throughout the floor under the carpeting to shield against heat and for sound proofing. Extremely well done and ready for a show.

·ENGINE/ENGINE BAY --- 4.5--- Engine / Engine bay done within the last 500 miles. New pistons and rings (9:1 compression ratio), new rod and crank bearings, new crankshaft, engine balanced, modern rear seals, rebuilt carbs, new header tank, new water pump, rebuilt wiper motor, new clutch, etc. Many other components restored or replaced including numerous upgrades outlined below. Engine Bay very clean and detailed to a high level for show.

·TRUNK --- 4.5--- New trunk kit (correct Hardura mat and side panels), knock-off hammer, new jack (upgrade)/jack bag, etc. New spare wheel / tire, etc. Gas tank removed and restored, new trunk plywood, etc.

·WHEELS/TIRES --- 5.0--- The chrome wire wheels and tires are all new - Dayton Wire Wheels.

·TOP --- 5.0---Replaced NEW with upgraded Stay-fast material. Top frame completely restored in correct factory color. It looks great.

·EXHAUST---4.5--- New Stainless Steel exhaust; only a few miles on them.

·BOOT COVER --- 5.0--- New - Stay-fast material

·GLASS --- 5.0---New including windshield and side door glass/windows that were cut to fit top

·CHROME ---5.0--- New throughout the entire car

·ELECTRICAL --- 5.0 ---New main harness and many new or restored electrical components.

·BRAKES --- 5.0--- Restored and/or replaced in the past few years --- master cylinder, calipers, brake lines, etc.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The car was recently restored (less than 500 miles ago) including new paint, chrome, interior, top, trunk, wheels/tires, etc. etc. Everything was done per original Jaguar Factory specs unless upgraded for improved reliability as outlined above. The original factory engine was also rebuilt; the engine head was replaced with a new rebuilt head by Terry's Jaguar; one of the top engine shops in the industry. The car comes with detailed documentation outlining the lion's share of the restoration.
