Chicagotribune.com states:

Solid? No doubt about it. Close the door and it sounds like a safe.
Quiet? Absolutely. Rolls-Royce boasts you can stand a coin motionless on its idling engine; the block of the Jaguar XJ-6 sedan would keep five nickels upright.
Reliable?
It's this question that results in some would-be Jaguar customers remaining just that-would-be.
A week's worth of driving isn't going to prove the long-range reliability and dependability of the Jaguar XJ-6 sedan. And that time span won't make us retreat from our longstanding belief that the best thing to come out of England is Princess Di, followed by Winston Churchill. But the XJ-6 is now even with Winnie.
Having an XJ-6 strapped to you makes for a very enjoyable week. No mechanical problems, no electrical system failures. No bending over every few minutes to pick up the next piece to fall off and stow it in the glovebox, as was our first experience with Jaguar many years ago.

Jaguar has always been a staple in the luxury car market. You were somebody when you owned a Jaguar, because it symbolized status, wealth, and class. It wasn't until just recently Jaguars from the 80's started to become collectible. Choosing the right Jag to collect is difficult from this era because when most people bought these cars, they drove them often to show them off. This particular 1988 Jaguar XJS offered here today could be a great fit not only to collect but to drive

The exterior is in excellent condition. It wears all the original paint very well. The body is straight and there is NO rust underneath, on the floors, frame, or on top of the car. It is very solid and straight. The glass is in excellent condition. The bright work is brilliant showing very minor hazing on the tops of the bumpers. The wheels are all original and the tires are original to the car.

The interior is absolutely gorgeous and in excellent original condition. There is some minor cracking and a chip in the wood trim but the condition is excellent but really only noticeable if you look hard. We just want to mention it to give every detail about this beautiful car that we can. This beauty has nothing to hide, inside or out. . There are no rips or cracks in the seats, door panels and dash. All electrics work. There is a warning light flashing for a bulb or fuse which should be an easy fix. There is some warping in the trim panel below the glove box. The dash gauge cluster is clear as a bell and all works properly.

The 3.6L Straight Six runs quiet and very smooth. No taps, knocks or smoke. The automatic transmission shifts excellent and makes for any drive, whether it's a nice Sunday drive or you want to take this on your next vacation, a very dependable, comfortable and enjoyable one.
