Description:

1967 Jaguar E-Type

You are bidding on a 1967 Jaguar E-Type, XKE, Series 1, 2+2 coupe, 4.2L example that has been in dry heated storage for the past 29 years. An original, matching numbers car that received one re-spray in 1977 from its original Opalescent Dark Green, to an Aston Martin ‘Silver Birch’. A well documented maintenance history (diary) that was started by the original owner at 8100 miles & continued by the second owner on August 12th 1971 at 32,717 miles & completed to 50,437 miles just prior to going into long term storage.

With 55,972 miles on the clock this Jaguar shows minimal rust & no metal repair of any kind. The body shows only minor dents & scratches from normal use. The underside is solid, the floor pans are the originals, & the factory Opalescent Dark Green paint still shows well...even the original carpet under-padding is still in place. There are no signs of accident damage and the fitment of the body panels are evident of that. The paint is 40 years old and shines well but does show plenty of patina.

The exterior chrome trim is in excellent condition however, the bumpers could use a re-chroming. All glass is the factory original & is in great condition, the windscreen however does have a crack in the centre that runs vertically.

The Jaguar has recently been pulled from storage & no attempt has been made to start the car. The engine turns freely by hand & the engine oil is clean. The fuel in the gas tank has ‘soured’ & therefore a complete fuel system flush should be done prior to starting. The documented maintenance diary speaks to a complete clutch & associated components being replaced at 50,437 miles. The manual 4-speed transmission easily shifts into all gears. The brake & clutch hydraulics are functional & fluids appear clean. The radiator was re-cored at 38,180 miles & a ‘Stebro’ exhaust system was installed in 1972 at 45,000 miles.

The interior is clean, with the expected patina for a 50 year old car. The seats are in excellent original condition with no tears or open seams, a testament to the original 55K miles. All other panels are original to the car including the carpet under-padding which is still all intact & in place. The headliner is clean & in excellent condition. The dash cap does have a crack. All dash switch gear and gauges are original and in excellent condition. An expensive dealer option was the Blaupunkt Radio, which is still in place today but has not been tested. The two under dash panels tray’s are have been removed but are available and in good condition.

The electrical wiring seems to be the factory original however, current state is unknown as the Jag has not been started.

This is a numbers matching vehicle as verified by the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Purchased originally by a resident in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada & then relocating to Montreal, Quebec, Canada & finally residing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Quebec license plate is available & will go with the car along with the owner’s handbook and maintenance diary.

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an incredibly original, charmingly patinaed & entirely honest preserved example of one of history’s most important & sought after sports cars.

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like; more pictures are available beyond what the EBay auction shows.... they may be requested by sending me your personal email address.

I have tried to take pictures of all aspects of the car including the underside, however I don't have a hoist and took them lying underneath. If you want specific picks please feel free to ask, I will do my best to accommodate.

I am willing to ship WORLDWIDE & will assist with shipping arrangements.

Given that I am located inCanada, some US & offshore buyers may be reluctant to bid given the border crossing and or importation paperwork required to import the vehicle to their home destination. I can assist with providing the buyer with contact information to an international transportation company (specializing in relocating vintage and classic cars worldwide) that can safely and at a reasonable cost transport the vehicle. I have personally used this company several times and have been extremely pleased with the pick-up & delivery.
