1948 Jaguar Saloon restoration project NO RESERVE

Price: - Item location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Description:

1948 Jaguar MK IV

Offered here is a 1948 Jaguar saloon. Although it is essentially the same as the prewar SS saloon it does have some features that were designed by the renamed Jaguar Motor Car Company specifically for the US market. This car has the more desirable 3 ½ liter engine, it is a left hand drive car and it has sealed beam headlights mounted in the larger headlight buckets used in the British market. This car was imported from 1946 to 1948 when it was replaced by the all new Mark V Jaguar.

This car is a good restoration candidate. It will require a full restoration of the body, the engine compartment and the interior. The car is probably 90% complete. A restoration advantage is that the engine is the same as that used in the Mark V for which parts are available. Switches, handles and many other parts are also common. The "Old Car Report price guide " lists the value of a restored car as $75,500 so you are unlikely to lose money restoring this car.

The wood trim around the windows is in good condition but the dashboard will need repair. There are two rims available for the spare tire. The right front fender has a heavy layer of bondo on the front but there is very little rust anywhere.

This is a "movie car" as it was featured in the film "James and the Giant Peach" The Provenance and the CD will be included with the car.

I will help load car on buyers transporter. It rolls and steers.
