On its release in March 1961 Mr. Enzo Ferrari called it the most beautiful car ever made. In 2004, Sports Car International magazine placed the E-Type at number one on their list of Top Sports Cars of the 1960s. In March 2008, the Jaguar E-Type ranked first in The Daily Telegraph online list of the world's 100 most beautiful cars of all time. Designed by a noted aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, the E-type was meant to cheat the wind, but its glass covered headlights, long hood (bonnet), short rear deck (boot) and compound curves also coincidentally looked great. With a 0-60 time of around 6.4seconds and a 150 mph top speed all E-Types featured independent coil spring rear suspension with torsion bar front ends, and four wheel disc brakes, in-board at the rear, all were power-assisted.
