1958 Jaguar XK150 S

Most historians will agree that one of the most dramatic post war designed sports cars is the Jaguar XK120.Here at MissChiTown, a service for collectors who wish to list their cars on eBay, we just love this model when it has the disk wheels and fender skirts. While the 120 is definitely a fabulous design, the interior of the cockpit is extremely tight and not much larger then a MGA or a TR4.By the later 1950s in the American market, one of Jaguars major markets, the XK120 and XK140 were competing with the 1956 and later Corvettes and also the 1955 - 1957 2-passenger Thunderbirds.Jaguar realized that they needed more room in the cockpit and roll up windows as well as a weather tight car.Jaguar came up with the fabulous package of the Jaguar 150.While many thought that they could not top the 150, Jaguar added the 150S with several upgrades including a lot more horse power. The roll up windows were greatly appreciated in the US market and helped make the 150 and the 150S a big success.

In the spring of 1958 the 3.4 litre “S” engine whose three 2-inch (51mm) SU HD8 carburetors and straight-port cylinder head increased power to a claimed 250 SAE bhp.O-60 was around seven seconds, which was extremely fast for the day is still plenty “peppy”.Four wheel Dunlap disk brake appeared for the first time to quickly brake this extremely fast car.You only have to take a look at the pictures in this eBay ad to realize how fabulous the car presented in this eBay listing really is as it practically jumps off the screen because of its fabulous and most desirable color scheme of black with red interior!!While the private seller is not presenting this car as a Pebble Beach show car it is a fabulous looking driver and the body is as tight as a drum even when traveling over rough roads. This car has been lovingly cared for by the current owner for over 12 years. Before that he knew of the car for a number of years. The car has always been maintained mechanically in top condition. The odometer appears to read 71,512 but the actual mileage is not documented.

The current owner has known about this car for the last 25 years, twelve years ago he was fortunate enough to purchase it from the gentleman who had purchased it around 1990.The current owner has been informed that when the previous owner restored the car he found some front fender damage that had been fully repaired prior to the restoration process.Other then the above, the current owner does not know of any major physical damage to the car.It should be noted that because of the repairs that were undoubtedly made in the 1960s or early 1970s when the car was of used car market value, the title has an indication of “Rebuilt” on it.During the current owner’s ownership, he has had the car maintained by a qualified Jaguar mechanic and the car shows high impact in its black finish with red interior, which most people believe is the most desirable color for a XK 150 S.As you can see from the pictures, the fit and the finish are exactly what you would hope it to be for a very rare XK 150 S.The owner believes that this car is ready to make a serious road trip (but we always recommend new buyers have a new collector car looked over by their own mechanic before any long distance driving).Ask any questions before bidding by calling 847-774-4857.As we have stated the owner and his wife have enjoyed this car for the twelve years they have had it and this car is his only collector car.He does not consider himself to be a Jaguar guru with high technical knowledge but is happy to share the information that he has about the car to any perspective owner.

The private seller tells us that it is a matching numbers car and has the Jaguar Heritage certificate. It has even won a trophy.

Jaguar XK 150 S cars are extremely rare and highly desirable to collectors. We do not recall the last time that we saw one this beautiful advertised on eBay.This could be an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a rare Jaguar. We encourage you scrutinize the photos of not only the cosmetics but also the underside so that you can get a good feeling about how well this car has been cared for over the years.
