1964 Jaguar E-Type

1964 JAGUAR E-TYPE 3.8 LITER SERIES 1 ROADSTER --Opalescent Silver Gray with Red leather interior, Black convertible top, 4-speed manual transmission, Matching numbers, Wire wheels, Toll Roll, Restoration by marque specialist, Concours Condition. Constructed at Jaguars famous Browns Lane, Coventry plant in January 1964, this superb Series 1 Roadster is believed to have had only two owners prior to 2005, when it was bought by a New Jersey-based Jaguar enthusiast. A restoration was commissioned in September 2009 with Larry Comerford of Manville, New Jersey based European sports car restoration house ‘Foreign Specialties’. The car is understood to have been a solid and well-kept car but required some cosmetic and mechanical overhauling. Mr. Comerford disassembled the car and then sandblasted and refinished the chassis frame and suspension components. The bodywork was re-painted to a very high standard and new rubber grommets, seals and gaskets were installed and the brightwork was re-chromed as necessary. The carburetor, brakes and suspension were rebuilt and the valves were adjusted. The electrical system was rewired and the electrical components were tested thoroughly. Completed in early March 2010, the car was shown at the 2010 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and at the 2010 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance where Mr. Comerford’s precise work resulted in a class win for Best English Sports Car 1956-1964. This E-type was purchased by a long standing client of Autosport Designs in 2010. During his ownership, he has invested in excess of $26,000 with us to further enhance this wonderful example with recent work including a cylinder head rebuild, carburetor rebuild, full service tune, aluminum radiator with an electric cooling fan to ensure cool operating temperature, new fuel pump and ignition switch etc., all invoices are on file.. This highly desirable series one 3.8 roadster is finished in Opalescent Silver Gray over red hides, a black soft top and period-correct whitewall tires, Chrome wire-wheels, Lucas racing mirrors are fitted and its period radio is supplied with the car, currently it is fitted with a modern CD/radio. This early E-Type Roadster is a matching-numbers example, presented in one of the finest color combinations to be seen on an E-Type, it is in superb condition throughout and ready to be enjoyed by its new owner just in time for the 2016 season to begin.
