There are Binders here, Binders there, Binders everywhere at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. We are pleased to offer this holy grail rare and fully restored, matching numbers 1972 International-Harvester 1210 ¾-tone, crew cab 4x4 Travelette Pickup. These early "crew cab" 4x4's are nearly impossible to find in any condition, much-less, a solid restored version as this one. They were mostly used for logging, construction, and heavy duty work and because of that they are rarely seen anywhere today, much less, a fantastically restored 1210 such as this!
This truck comes to us from dry California/Nevada. Its exterior is unique and in excellent shape. The dark gold surface is a scratch-resistant urethane paint that also offers sound insulation benefits to the driver and passengers. The only blemish we noticed came from previous fuel overspills. The original gold paint is visible throughout the interior, on the doorjambs and the firewall. The glass panels are in very good order, haze- and crack-free, as are the vehicle’s lights, clear and intact.
This Travelette rolls on excellent gum-dipped Firestone Ground Grip 35.5-inch military tires; sized 9.00-16, and show-mounted on steel wheels with factory wheel covers and locking hubs. All of the body panels are straight and solid. The urethane paint covers the cargo bed, too, complete with its original IH-stamp bed bolts. The engine bay is extremely tidy and the truck’s bumpers look very good. The body was lifted off this beast and the frame was painted black and looks virtually new.
Under the hood is a SV Comanche 345 CID V-8 engine, mated to a factory three-speed automatic transmission. Driver assist features include power steering, power brakes, air-conditioning and dual fuel tanks. It should be noted that the fuel gauge is inoperable.
Inside, the black cloth/vinyl bench seats with gold trim look fantastic and are newly upholstered. The black molded floor matting looks great, too. The headliner is in decent condition. The complete set of gauges, is in very good order too. The original three-spoke steering wheel and the black inner door panels look great. The truck’s sideview mirror glass and shift lever are in good condition. Completing the interior is a factory AM radio.
The International Harvester Travelette was a crew cab available with two- or four-wheel drive. A three-door version started in 1957 (based on the A-Series) and a four-door version was available starting in 1961. The 1961 Travelette was the first six-passenger, four-door truck of its time, and was based on the C-Series.
Documentation includes original line setting ticket on back wall of glovebox, a 1972 I-H sales brochure and a binder of vehicle photos.
Competition to this International in 1972 included Chevrolet’s C/K series pickups, Ford’s F-series trucks, Dodge’s D-series trucks and GMC’s C/K series trucks.
This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 87,755 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
