Description:

1961 International Harvester Scout Scout 80

First Year of production in Hamilton Ontario, Canada, (1961). International Scout 4X4, model 152, with a shorty pickup body and removable hard-top roof.
These sturdy little workhorses, designed to compete with the Jeep CJ, have become increasing rare. Definitely a collector, with an active cadre of enthusiasts. Their blocky proportions have a rugged appeal.
Original, including the four-cylinder engine and three-speed manual transmission. These trucks are known for their ability to go anywhere, just not very fast. Picture it chugging through the snow between tall pines, or bouncing over rocky desert trails. It has a PTO winch also.
Highway driving not so much since Scouts are typically geared low for maximum torque to the wheels.
Scouts are usually seen with wagon-style bodies with an enclosed cargo bed in back. The pickup looks much cooler, especially with the hard-top removed. It’s for fun not practicality.
This Scout has many new parts (a long list is available) a family project well acquainted with International vehicles to bring it back to original condition, and it has been barn stored.
Unfortunately the paint job was done in poor conditions and has bubbles so it needs to be re-painted. However the body is rust-free, and mileage is very low. Tires will also need to be replaced, they are 20 year old traction type.
