1987 Honda Civic SI

NO RESERVE AUCTION:1987 Honda Civic Si with only 15,475 ORIGINAL miles!!!

Up for auction is a very rare opportunity to buy a 1987 Honda Civic Si Hatchback with only 15,475 original miles. This awesome little car started life being sold to an older couple in Canandaigua New York in June of 1987 where it resided until September of 2018.The couple drove the car the first two years accumulating about 15,000 miles. In 1989, the couple purchased a new automatic transmission Honda Accord and parked the Civic under a cover in their driveway for the next 29 years. The cover protected the body and interior well enough, but the undercarriage was left to the elements and suffered from surface corrosion on the non-galvanized metal parts including the brakes, the suspension, and the exhaust.I have a small Honda/Acura collection so when a friend of mine who is in the area saw the car for sale, he contacted me and I immediately bought it and shipped it to Arizona.

Knowing the car had sat for 29 years, I immediately sent the car to my Honda specialist here in Phoenix to drain the fuel tank, clean it, replace the fuel pump, fuel filter, and change all of the fluids to bring the engine back to optimal running condition. The rear brakes were also completely replaced as one was seized from the parking brake set for 29 years. The car actually still had its original 1987 tires on it so those were replaced with a set of Hankooks.Lastly, in July I had the alternator replaced with an OEM Nippondenso, and the drive belts (also from 1987) replaced. The car now runs absolutely great and feels peppy and tight like a 15k mile car should. This fall/winter I was going to continue updating the under-carriage parts (specifically the exhaust) but I am running out of storage space and my self-employed business has picked up so much this year I won't have the time to keep working on it, much less my other Hondas including a '89 4WS Prelude, '91 CRX Si, '83 JDM City Turbo, or my '95 NSX-T.As such, I decided to sell her.In addition to the aforementioned under-carriage corrosion, there are a few items that could use attention:

-There is a 1.5 inch crack in the paint on the hood (see photo).

-There is some dash shrinkage above the glove box (see photo).

-I am missing the 3rd brake light plastic surround.

-I am missing 3 of the 4 rear taillight access panel plastic covers.

Other than that, this Civic Si is in very good condition and starts, drives, handles, and stops like you'd expect for the extremely low mileage. This is a very unique opportunity as it has to be one of the lowest mileage Civic/CRX Si's out there from this era, but is not (yet) a trailer queen that should be in a museum. The next caretaker could finish the under-carriage work and use it as a show car, or they can simply leave it as is and enjoy putting 200k trouble free miles on it.I am offering the car at no reserve as I want everyone who bids on the car to know this is a real sale and not just a "testing the waters" effort.I am a car enthusiast and know this car will appeal to others like myself and am excited to continue to be part of the cars journey.

Below are links to three videos I uploaded to YouTube to better show the car. I apologize in advance for the shakiness and clunking noises in the driving video...my camera was not secured completely to the mount, but it still shows how well the car accelerates, cruises, turns, and stops.

A couple updates:
- I failed to mention that I also replaced the timing belt in September of 2018. There was no way I was driving the car with a 30 year old timing belt!!!
- Although I appreciate the unsolicited offers, there is not a buy-it-now price.. This is a no-reserve auction so the car will sell at whatever the final bid amount is.
