Description:

1986 GMC Sierra 3500 SIERRA

1986 GMC Sierra 3500 (twin to the Silverado 3500) Crew Cab Dually 4x4. Rebuilt 454 with 14,000 miles, TH400 Transmission, 4.10 gears. Dana 60 front, NP205 gear drive transfer case, lockouts.
Manual windows and locks, A/C (currently needs refrigerant, has been converted to 134a, I will try to charge before end of auction). Dual tanks with switch, one of the tanks is newer.
Paint is apple red, burgundy seats under the seat covers (seats in good shape minus the driver's side wear you can see), heavy duty radiator and transmission cooler. Truck comes with wideside pickup equipment option, and measures out at what appears to be a standard long box crew cab wheel base, so I don't think putting a regular pickup dually box is an issue. I purchased to use as a service truck for my auto repair/tire shop, but this thing is way too nice for my employees to find a way to screw up. Photos tell the story of the condition, but if you have questions, I will try to provide more info. IN THE PHOTOS OF THE ROCKERS, THE BUMPS ARE WATER DROPS, NOT RUST BUBBLES.
Obviously the truck was owned by a fire department. The history is a little different, because the department did not buy the truck new. The maintenance records show differing opinions about how many miles were on the truck when the fire department purchased it in 1989. Some records in 1989 show it with between 3000-4000 miles. Others in the next year or so show 104,000, then back to under 10,000 miles. Department sold it to me as 118,900, but looking at the truck it is hard to believe. You make the call. In Nebraska, our title says exempt on mileage on cars older than 10 years. Comes with all manuals from new, the Waxoyl corrosion protection warranty book, and a 3 ring binder of anything and everything done to the truck, including the engine rebuild 14,000 miles ago (so either at 5666 miles or 105,666. That was in 1995, so for past 24 years it has had only 14,000 miles put on it). Kept inside, washed twice a month, waxed, etc. Binder has meticulous records.
Lights and sirens are still operational, lights have wires operating them on the outside of the cab; light bar is attached at the drip rails, so no screws in roof that I can see, or holes for the wiring. The Reading bed is in good shape, very minor rust showing in the rear compartments that are just behind the duals. All doors and latches work well.
Trucks starts and runs like a new one. I drove it for 3 1/2 hours last week, valve covers leak a little but otherwise a great unit. It has dual exhaust, and one muffler has some rust but is not blown out and loud. It cruised down the interstate at 65 and wasn't loud. Truck has very little play in the front steering. Original 7.50-16 tires were replaced with LT235/85R16 E Firestone Transforce HT tires. Steel wheels with stainless simulators. Truck did about 8 mpg on my trip.
I would not hesitate to drive this thing on long distances, but will also help load if given 48 hours notice by your shipper. I am a Nebraska licensed and bonded dealer, so you will receive all paperwork needed including 30 day in-transit tags. There are no additional document or dealer fees, just the price of the truck and whatever your local costs are for licensing, taxes, etc.
