Description:

1987 GMC Sierra 3500 Scottsdale

I used to haul cars and heavy machinery but it sits idle mostly now. Previous owner hauled his race cars for years. 1987 R3500 one ton, throttle body 454 and Muncie SM465 manual. Growing up with carbs this throttle body system is incredible. VERY reliable starts in the coldest of weather. Set up for goosenecks. Power brake controller. I replaced the factory 4.1 rear end gears with a 3.7 but I'm fairly convinced they didn't do the speedo gear. Gets about 9 MPG city or highway, empty or full. Twin 20 gallon tanks however only one is installed at present. I bought two new ones when I got the truck but only wound up installing one for some reason, other new one is thoroughly undercoated and sitting in my storage unit along with a new selector valve for switching the tanks. New tank hangers are $150 on eBay, but I never went far enough that 20 gallons wasn't enough so I just never spent the extra money and was always sorry I got the extra tank. I doubt I burn 40 gallons a year in it now. I've done LOTS of maintenance since I've had it, and some of it really matters. Here's the rundown.

Recently had all new belts, new wipers, and air filter. New hoses a year or so ago. New plugs, wires, cap, button, and coil three years ago. New coolant overflow tank two years ago. New Delco brake booster last month. Rebuilt alternator three years ago. New clutch slave cylinder three years ago. All new nickel brake lines two years ago. Heavily reinforced passenger side running board three years ago. New fuel tanks 5 years ago, I think I did the pump at the same time. Here's a big one- all new bumper bracket and hardware, along with trailer plugs and wire harness. The old bumper mount hardware actually failed on me and I rebuilt the whole back end. Tore apart the tailgate and lubed the latch mechanism, so that works like new. Replaced worn out and broken tailgate trim hardware with new aircraft titanium and stainless fasteners. New seat covers, two new oil pressure sensors, new right rear outboard tire, and new muffler. Tires have LOTS of life left on them.

The bad- Drivers side running board is loose and needs reinforced. Just never got around to it. Parking brake bracket ripped away from the firewall, and the brake now will not set. Always had a plan to fix that but never did, just left it in gear when I parked it. Truck has air conditioning but it will not work this year. Not sure what that is about but the system is there. Doesn't hurt the gas mileage any. Power windows all work, some slow, but work. Power locks do not. Windshield has a crack from a stone, and right rear fender has some damage by the bumper from a towing incident.
This truck would be a GREAT farm truck or local heavy equipment hauler. It's not so great on gas but it's powerful and reliable, and very well set up for the price. I will miss it for sure but I have not put 500 miles on it in the last three years.

No trades. Delivery available, you pay for time and fuel, ect. Test drives OK for respectful, serious buyers. Please email me for questions or to set up a time to come look at it. Calls/texts ok but I don't get to things very fast all the time, so email is best. I've paid for a good Autocheck VIN search and will be happy to email it to interested buyers.
Thanks!
