1986 GMC C1500 Classic 1500 4x4

Admit it, you've always admired big, tastefully-done 4x4s like this 1986 GMC Sierra Classic 1500. It keeps its factory look but amps it up a bit with the usual 4x4 upgrades and the result is like a stock truck on steroids. It's also loaded with options and incredibly straight, making it a high-quality, yet very affordable, proposition. Anything this big is going to command a lot of attention, so it's good news that it's in excellent shape, even up close. It was repainted in its original combination of code 72 Apple Red and code 12 Frost White, and that's a look that just won't get old. It doesn't look like this was a work truck, and instead the long bed/regular cab was probably used for commuting and maybe some light lifting and off-road fun on weekends during its early years. As a result, the bodywork is in great shape with straight panels and good gaps that don't show any signs of abuse, and the nicely done paint shines up quite well. The GMC was a little dressier than the Chevys, with big chrome bumpers, stainless trim along the sides, and even a hood ornament up front. There's also a spray-in bedliner that allows you to still put the truck to work today. The big chrome diamond plate rear bumper looks brand new and helps with the heavy-duty look. The handsome red interior is typical late-80s GM, with velour-like upholstery that's comfortable and durable. The door panels show some modest wear, particularly where the driver's elbow might rest, but things like the carpets and dash pad are quite good. Factory instruments are stashed behind a burled walnut gauge panel that isn't terribly convincing, but that was GM in the 1980s. There's also a leather-wrapped steering wheel that seems appropriate for the surprisingly luxurious pickup. Options include ice cold factory A/C, power windows and locks, and a tilt steering column, making this a no-compromises pickup that can work well and coddle its passengers. An AM/FM/CD stereo has been fitted in the lower corner of the instrument panel, replacing the original radio, and it sounds pretty good. Heavy-duty floor mats help protect those original carpets and there's a sliding rear window for those days that don't quite need the A/C. The engine is a 305 cubic inch V8 (also known as a 5.0 liter), and with a 4-barrel carburetor, it starts easily, idles well even when it's cold, and has a nice, flat torque curve that's perfect for a full-sized pickup. No outrageous modifications, just OEM parts throughout that ensure easy service and reliability in the future. Backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission, it's comfortable around town and cruises easily on the highway without getting buzzy. A custom dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers gives it a definite hot-rod sound that really works with the big 4x4 look, and while it's not detailed underneath, it is in good shape with no signs of abuse. Twin gas tanks give it bladder-bursting range on the highway and the upgraded suspension with new Rancho adjustable shocks gives it a great look plus space for those giant 35x12.50-15 off-road radials. It's OK, we all know these are cool trucks. If you've wanted one since you were a kid, this is a nice one that's got all the toys and is ready to go right away. Call today and start having fun!
