1975 GMC Vandura VANDURA

1975 GMC VANDURA SHORT VAN

Very clean little short van. Great rod project. No rust, runs nice, drives nice, very straight body. Use as-is, or a very easy project van. It is a cool color already (in my opinion) so it would be easy to paint. I would personally put some new cragars on it and sidepipes, for that old school vibe. Maybe bigger cragars if you want to get a little more modern with it. I'm sure it will look good any way. No holes cut in the sides or roof. Shorty vans in this condition seem to be very hard to find. I've looked alot, because I wanted to build an "old-school" clone like the black chevy from the movie, or one similar. Below are all the details. Many more pics available including many undercarriage/floor pics. One pic in the listing is of a chevy van the same color. It is very clean and solid all around. Thanks and happy bidding. If you want to do something on it, feel free to message me.

MECHANICAL

This has the original 350 small block V8 with automatic transmission. It runs great. No smoke, no knocks. Runs cool. 4-barrel. It has good power but would be great with a bigger cam/headers/ignition/aluminum intake. It has newer dual exhaust but is not real loud. Kind of quiet but sounds good when you rev it up. It needs valve cover gaskets but besides that, needs nothing major mechanically. I tightened the valve covers and it does not seem to be leaking anymore, but I haven't driven it much. This goes down the road straight as an arrow. Power brakes with front discs. Power steering. No A/C. Keystone mags in the pics aren't included. It comes with white spokes and decent tires that drive nice, but are weather cracked. I'm also trying to get together a set of 5-lug rally wheels to include if possible. The van drives very nice. Even with older tires, it drives very very good. Wipers, speedometer, gauges, and horn work. all lights work. Heater controls work but heater fan does not. If it's an issue I can diagnose and/or fix it. 12-bolt rear. Most likely has a turbo 400. Shifts perfectly. Runs cool. I would do a basic tuneup on this but it doesn't really need it.

BODY

The body on this shorty van is exceptional for an unrestored van from this era. They just aren't around, or they are hacked up/wrecked/rusted. This is pretty much a blank slate. Looks good enough to drive but the paint is not nice. I have tons of undercarriage pics and it is super dry. Floors, floor supports, frame, header, firewall, roof, doors, quarters, fenders, dash, jams, steps, etc. are very nice and dry. Battery tray needs replaced. This is not the type to sit on the inner fender, so that area is fine. No body filler that I can see. No sign of any collision damage. Overall it's a nice old gmc that is cool to drive. I don't know the history of it but it looks like it was probably owned by the same guy for 30-40 years. It's a "VANDURA". The coolest factory van name ever.

INTERIOR

The interior is basically original with the exception of some shag carpeting and a rear bed. Front seats are original. Dash has had a tape deck put in it. It comes on but doesn't appear to be hooked to any speakers. Seats are in usable shape but need recovered or seat covers. Dash is in good shape. All doors open and close as they should. Gauges all work. Heater fan does not work. Other heater controls work.

OVERALL

This is a great van to rod, kustomize, or restore back to original. It would be a good candidate for a 70's era kustom van. Large mural with wizards? These vans get tons of attention at car shows. Everyone likes them, but they just aren't around much. I grew up in the 70's-80's during the heyday of vans and vannin, and I appreciate the van scene.

This van is sold as-is. I'm happy to help with the shipping process. Thirty days free storage if need and negotiable after that. I'm easy to work with. Thank you.
