1972 GMC Other

Parked in barn since 1999; all tires sunk into dirt 6 inches - they all hold air except right rear that now has weeds between rim and bead (very slow leak) and 20+ year old BF Goodrich 35x12.5x16.5 - tires and wheels need replaced. Truck ran strong the day it was parked - never dreamed it was going to be for that long. All pictures except 2 were taken before I drug Big Red out with the tractor; just the 2 after I pulled it out in the road so I could get it over to my driveway. Truck looks exactly like pictures - has not been washed in at least 17 years. Gas tank rusted bad and fuel pump rotted (have new steel tank that goes w truck) so - put Jerry can on ladder, ran fuel line to carb, put in new battery (stays w truck) and engine started and came to fast idle. All 4x4 drivetrain including low range and hubs work perfect. Rusted out bottom of both doors and outside edge of floorboards, some at bottom of front fenders, but otherwise solid steel w the surface rust you'd expect here and there. Wood bed has some warpage and very few small areas (2) where some wood missing. I'm 2nd owner from the 70's and mileage was 19,000 at that time. Engine, front and rear ends, transmission and transfer case were Slick 50'd in early 80's, with the engine done more than once. This truck has a unique 4" diameter driveline that as far as I know, was only tried on this truck and it's sister as a test for both trucks special ordered for the U.S. Forest Service in S.E. Washington. This truck sat with exhaust pipes coming out of both front turn signal holes with mufflers going up, along with a Donaldson air cleaner mounted to the front bumper fed by pipe through the current whip antennae mounting hole when I bought it. Nice potential for one of you to have a nice Truck here ...
