1987 GMC V3500 Sierra Classic

1987 GMC V3500 1-Ton 4x4 Sierra Classic

Super nice-super rare 1987 GMC V3500! This very rare 3 owner truck is super hard to find at all, let alone with options like this one. We have owned the truck since 2010, and it has only been driven in summer months. Always garaged through the winters, and garaged full time by previous owners.

I have owned many K30/V30’s over the years, but this one is one of my favorites, as well as being the most rare! Notable options on this truck are: Sierra Classic trim, T.B.I 454, TH400, NP205 T-case, Dana 60 front/14-Bolt FF rear, Ice cold A/C, Cruise, Tilt, Power windows, Power door locks, Dual batteries, Swing out spare tire carrier, and Limited slip rear axle!

Mechanically, this truck is a “10”! As a veteran GM Parts Department Manager for over 25 years, I am an OEM nut! Anything that has been replaced and was still available from GM, I replaced them with OEM parts. In 2013 we spent a ton of time and money taking this truck to the next level. I completely rebuilt the front axle including kingpins, bearings, seals, brake pads, rotors etc! I serviced the rear diff and transfer case, and had our shop service and install a mild shift kit into the trans. I removed the engine, replaced every gasket and seal on it as well as a new double roller timing chain. Those of you in the “454” world know that the factory chain & gears is a real weak point! I change the chain & gears in every 454 I have owned, as it makes a noticeable difference in performance and reliability. Also, all new tune up parts including belts & hoses, oil cooler lines, and a re-core of factory radiator. At this same time, I added a CFM Tech 54mm Throttle body, a bored out Edelbrock Performer T.B.I intake, upgraded AC-Delco fuel pumps, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge. Truck runs and drives Excellent!! Drive it anywhere!

The interior of the truck is as nice as you will find! Check out pics of original dash pad, you will only notice a super small crack in the drivers speaker perforations. The only real issue with the interior is that some of the material on the driver’s seat cushion has gotten thin and is starting to split. Everything inside works as it should! Has a Killer stereo system in her! Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit, Kicker 750 watt 5-channel amp, 4 Rockford 3 ½” speakers in the dash, Rockford 6x9’s in the cab corners, and 2 Kenwood 12” subs behind the seat all in a custom enclosure. Everything done right!

The suspension is a Skyjacker 6” softride system. It features the Skyjacker stainless steel extended brake lines, Hydro shocks, and the correct Skyjacker drop pitman arm. She’s riding on Centerline rotary forged alloy rims wrapped with 315/75r16 BFG A/T's. Rides Excellent, way better than stock!

The exterior of the truck looks very presentable, but is the only area of the truck that needs attention! She originally came with the “DF2” camper mirrors, and the original owner had them removed and the “D45” style sport mirrors installed. Of course, the doors were repainted at that time and they did a poor job on the repaint. Over the years, previous owners had the roof and the tailgate repainted due to thin/flaking paint. I assume those were done at a different facility as they look pretty good! The truck is virtually rust free, and very straight. It has various paint chips and dings on the body, but still shows very well and gets tons of compliments. The Largest damage to the body is on the driver’s box-side towards the rear. Just before I bought it the previous owner hit his mailbox. It will show up fine in the pictures, and is more a series of scratches than a dent. All this truck really needs is a good repaint to be a “10”, that’s what my plan was until an old build of mine came up for sale and we bought it back! Little nostalgia involved!

She’s a great truck, very rare, and drivable anywhere as long as you’re willing to feed her! If you have any questions or concerns, call me @ 509-630-2832. Truck is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early!

I also have a lot more pictures, call or text your email for more!

By the way, the accident reported on the vehicle history report did ZERO damage to truck. I rolled (less than 5 mph) into the back of a newer toyota at a stop light. Didn't even make a mark in the bumper guards, but I got a ticket anyway!
