1967 Ford Mustang

There are still lots of great early Mustangs out there for not a lot of cash, ust like this 1967 Mustang coupe. It's a real C-code 289 V8 car, t's got the right stance, nd it's available for about the price of a garden-variety daily driver. Wouldn't you rather have the Mustang?Go to a show today and you might be convinced that the roads were teeming with Shelbys and Mach 1s, ut the truth is, his coupe is far more accessible and looks fantastic without beating you over the head with it. The handsome burgundy paint is certainly eye-catching, nd there aren't many folks alive today who don't crack a smile when they see an early Mustang like this. Obviously kept in a warm, ry climate, his super-straight old pony wears that burgundy paint in a subtle way, o it makes a statement without the need for stripes and spoilers, hich always seem to get in the way of the Mustang's clean, onest look. Good panel alignment certainly helps and 1967's quarter panel inserts are far more interesting than the early cars' plain ones. All the badges and emblems have been shafted, o it'll leave everyone guessing, ut the bright trim around the windows, ender openings, nd rocker panels really dresses it up. We like the look because it combines an elegant, pscale image with just enough street fighter to make everyone respect it on the road.Mustangs were always equipped with wonderful, tylish, ighly functional interiors, nd this coupe is no exception. Bucket seats were standard (yes, ou could get a bench in a Mustang, ut why?) and with a center console between them it looks like a great place to spend some free time. Round gauges covering the basics fill the dash and are probably original, hich again suggests that this car has been exceptionally well cared-for throughout its life, nd there are auxiliary dials under the dash for oil pressure, emperature, nd voltage. There is a custom setup for the shifter for the AOD 4-speed automatic transmission as well as an aftermarket armrest that offers a pair of much-needed cup holders. The door panels, arpets, nd headliner are all in good shape, nd the trunk is neatly finished with black carpet mat that helps control noise and heat inside.Yes, his is a real c-code 289/2-barrel car but you can see that it's been pretty heavily fortified since it was new. It's quite nicely detailed with bright red engine enamel and finned Mustang valve covers and a matching air cleaner, eatly blending old and new. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold replace the original 2-barrel setup and an electronic ignition system lights it up reliably. Power steering and fresh ignition components are always good signs of a car that has been properly enjoyed, nd with that AOD 4-speed automatic transmission, t's a joy on the open road. Long-tube headers give it a classic V8 grumble without sounding like the starting grid at Lemans, nd the solid chassis definitely offers impressive originality and a lack of rust. The front suspension is a tubular Mustang II setup with rack-and-pinion steering and there's a disc brake at all four corners. 17-inch Foose wheels add an aggressive look without killing ride quality, hanks to recent 235/45/17 Kumho radials.Easy to live with, un to drive, nd affordable to buy, hat's how the Mustang has always been great. If you like driving, his cool coupe is an excellent choice. Call today!
