This amazing machine has been right here in Florida since the full restoration was started in 2010, nd once finished in 2013, t called my name at every car show, ruise night, nd event that I saw it at.

If you are looking for an extremely clean, ully rebuilt, nd well-cared for example of the iconic 1948 Ford F-1 pickup, his might be the one for you!
This vehicle has been in Florida for quite a number of years, nd the previous owner picked the truck in 2010 in what you would consider original, ut show-quality condition. After driving and enjoying it for a few months, he decision was made to affect a complete and total refurbishment on the truck, nd the end result is what you will see in the 100 extra-large photos I have provided.
The entire truck was stripped to the last nut and bolt, nd everything was blasted, leaned, nd prepared for assembly again, ith NOS or reproduction parts replacing the originals as needed to make the project as nice possible.
Factory FORD colors of Tucson Tan and Luster Black were selected, nd custom-blended before carefully being sprayed on the cab and bed.
The finish, lthough a few years old, till shows incredibly thanks to limited use and careful climate-controlled garage storage since completion.
The truck has only a handful or two minor little blemishes from normal use, ike stone chips, airline marks, nd small scuffs. These are items that most sellers won’t even mention, s they are to be expected on any vehicle, ut I want to make sure you understand that if you go crawling around on your hands and knees looking for a little mark, ou will find it.
The paint itself is glossy, lick, nd wet looking, nd we have not even detailed the truck! You are seeing it after it was washed, ried, nd wiped down with Turtle Wax QuickShine spray! Imagine how amazing it will show after you take the time to REALLY clean it once you get it home!
Everything on the truck is steel, rom the fenders to the boards to the cab and bed. No fiberglass knock-off components on this one!
Glass is in excellent condition, nd was installed with new seals and weather stripping throughout the truck.
The bright work of the moldings, oor handles, ail lamps, as cap, mblems, adging, eadlight trim rings, nd hood side trim all looks fantastic, nd the only item with the faintest sign of patina from use are the hood front vents and hood release, nd even THEY still show wonderfully!
Chrome bumpers front and rear, hrome grill bars, ORD letters, nd side window trim shows like new, ith no real signs of use at all.
All of the lights were new just a few years ago, nd they still show that way. Hi and Lo beams, arking lights, ail lamps, nd signals all function like they should.
Single windshield wiper works like it should, nd the windshield has the full RAIN-X treatment on it to help shed water easier.
Hood vent is fully functional and works like it should.
Windows roll up and down with ease on new regulators, ombs, nd hardware. Vent windows work as they should, nd seal tightly too.
The truck rides on correct steel rims that have been painted in matching LUSTER BLACK, nd fitted with beautiful polished trim rings and FORD center caps. Save for a small little mark or two from normal use, he rims show incredibly well, nd the trim rings and caps look almost new!
They are wrapped in super clean Firestone wide whitewall bias-ply tires that are in excellent, amage free condition at all four corners. Tires have at least 80% of the useable tread life remaining, nd show no issues of any kind.
Side steps on the running boards are clean and undamaged, ut do show as being a little dirty from being used to get in the truck.
Gaps and panel fit are about as nice as I have seen on an era-correct restoration, nd doors shut with ease, atch correctly, nd STAY shut until you want them open!
Body lines match up nicely, nd the bed is installed correctly so as not have any crookedness when viewing the truck from behind.
Bed wood is clean, traight, not and warp free, nd shows no damage. It is held down with like-new stainless steel strapping and hardware, nd is a tight and level install. Wood has a translucent weatherproofing applied to it, o it doesn’t look fake or “too glossy” like some.
Inside of the bed is painted in the Tucson Tan, nd shows very well, ith only a few little scuffs from actually being used as a truck bed to haul car shows chairs, cooler, nd a few Grandkids once in a while!
Overall, he exterior of the truck is a true 9.0 out of 10 right now, nd will climb even higher once you have the truck home and really give it a solid detail and cleaning in all the nooks and crannies.
Open the doors, nd you are met by a stunning, ully reconditioned interior that shows as wonderfully as the exterior of the truck does.
Door panels are clean, eat, nd painted to match the body, ith shiny new hardware, oor pulls, nd window rollers that look like new as well.
Dash is clean, eat, nd completely stock in appearance, nd is set off by the gleaming chrome center piece unit with FORD emblem that shows like new.
Ashtray opens and closes like it should, s does the correctly lined glovebox which currently holds an original OPERATORS MANUAL and SERVICE MANUAL for the truck, oth of which are in very good condition.
Glove box lid has the VIN plate on it, lthough somewhere in time it was screwed on the lid, nd there is another VIN plate on the passenger side of the firewall. Both plates have the same VIN as appears on the current FLORIDA TITLE for the truck, hich reads 1948 FORD PU.
Gauge surround is original, nd was left unrestored, o it shows a little light patina, ost of which may come off when you detail the truck. The gauges in it all work as they should, ncluding TEMP, ATTERY, IL, UEL, nd the Speedometer with Odometer.
GPS shows the Speedo is about 2mph slower than reality, o keep that in mind.
Odometer functions, urrently shows 68,791, ut is listed as EXEMPT on the title due to the model year.
Push button starter on far left of the lower dash works as it should to bring the truck to life.
Headlamp and wiper switches work as they should.
Key switch works as it should.
Controls for the under dash heating unit work as they should, nd the system appears to be functioning as it should.
An aftermarket oil pressure gauge was carefully mounted under the dash to give a more accurate reading so as to monitor the flathead better. It works like it should.
Brake, lutch, nd gas pedals are NOS units, nd look fantastic!
Rubber mat flooring shows like new, ith no dry rot or damage, nd the polished sill plates that hold it down show wonderfully as well.
Shifter is NOS, nd looks fantastic with a boot to match.
Firewall liner is correct for the truck, nd shows wonderfully.
Wiring throughout the truck was completely redone with NOS components and wiring. Great care was taken to loom it as correctly as it would have been in 1948, nd the electrical system as a whole has zero faults at this time.
Rear cab liner, eadliner, ack wall, nd sun visors are all in exceptional condition and are show ready.
Gas tank was removed, leaned, efinished, nd treated before being installed with all new hardware and lines.
Factory seat was completely refurbished and looks and feels like new, ith a gorgeous duo-tone leatherette.
A concession to originality was made with the installation of seat belts for the driver and both passengers. This was done with safety in mind, nd they can be easily removed for a period correct look.
Steering column was refinished and looks fantastic, nd the steering wheel is like new from every angle.
Chrome turn signal unit looks perfect, nd works that way too!
The interior of the truck is a solid 9.0 out of 10.0 as well, nd once you get the chance to really clean all the nooks and crannies out it will climb even higher.
Open the hood, nd you are met with a clean, how-ready engine bay, he centerpiece of which is the original 239ci FLATHEAD V8 motor.
The engine rebuilder was kind enough to document the rebuild in photos, nd included a full photo CD, ome of which I included in this listing.
It was completely redone from the block out, ith all new NOS or totally refurbished parts used to create an exceptionally well-running motor.
The engine only has about 1,500 approximate miles on it since the restoration, nd I have personally driven the truck about 40 miles without incident or issue.
It does not run hot, ven in our 85 degree Florida “Winter”, nd does not exhibit any signs of mechanical issues at idle, perating speed, r after driving.
Radiator was completely refurbished, long with all new hoses, ipe, lamps, nlet adaptors, nd water pump.
It weeped a small amount of fluid about the size of a pencil eraser from the passenger side of the oil pan after sitting for 5 days in the garage. If I get time over the weekend, will re-tension the bolts and probably solve that little riddle, ut for now, now that it might do it on your floor too.
There does not appear to be any other areas where gaskets or seals are leaking or weeping, nd nothing else from front to back has made a mark on the shop floor during its time with me.
The truck fires right up with a few pumps of the gas pedal and push of the starter when cold, nd just a push of the button when warm.
It idles cleanly, nd has a fully functional choke that works like it should as well.
Carb was an NOS unit and still functions perfectly, ithout any odd tendencies.
All of the other engine components from the plugs and wires to the belt were new when the restoration was completed a few years back, nd still function perfectly today.
Snick the optional floor-mounted 4-speed manual transmission into gear, nd you will see that clutch feel, ake up, nd travel are spot on. The non-synchro transmission shifts best with a smooth hand and double –clutch style of driving, nd after a few minutes behind the wheel you will be rowing through the gears like it was 1948 again!
Clutch, ransmission, riveline, ear end, nd axles were all fully refurbished during the restoration, nd they all work together to provide an exceptionally authentic driving experience with no unusual tendencies or issues.
Suspension components are all stock style pieces that were fully reworked as well, nd the truck rides and handles exactly like a new 1948 truck must have! It doesn’t creak, attle, ean to one side, ottom out, r anything else abnormal. It just rolls right along.
Steering is tight, ithout any excessive wheel slop or rowing, nd with the skinny bias-ply tires on it, t turns fairly easily, lthough you do need to put a little muscle into parking lot maneuvers!
Brakes were completely redone, ncluding drums, ines, nd pedal, nd the truck stops quickly and easily without any pulling, xcess fade, r issues.
The truck was completely rewired from front to back, nd kept as a 6-volt system.
Wiring was professionally done using photographs of the truck prior to restoration as a map, nd everything electrical on the truck functions exactly like it should without any issues. Fabric looms were used where needed to preserve a factory look.
The chassis and rear end were stripped and painted black when the resto was done, ut show some road debris marks, irt, nd grime from 1,500 odd miles of driving and use.
The majority of the hardware shows like new still
Exhaust is clean and factory styled, lthough the metal shows oxidation from normal use.
If you took the time to pressure wash, ipe down, nd really clean the nooks and crannies on the undercarriage, t would be a solid 8.5. As it is now, t shows to be a 7.5, ust because it was driven, nd not meant to sit over show mirrors.
Overall, his truck is about as nice as you could ask for, nd with a little bit of detailing and cleaning on a Saturday afternoon in your driveway, t will be even prettier than it is!
I would rate the overall truck as a 9 out of 10, nd if you look through the 100 photos I have provided, think you will agree that there are not many trucks nicer!
