1962 Ford Thunderbird
This Thunderbird was purchased new in Tucson Arizona, nd driven less than 78,000 miles before the owner died in 1984. At that time, he owner's husband placed the car in a garage, nd it has sat untouched for over thirty years. Last month, had the car pulled from it's tomb, nd gave it a thorough cleaning. While filthy, he car was remarkably well-preserved from being stored in a closed garage in the desert. Over the years, obody tried to start it, restore" it, r otherwise disturb it's time capsule state. The factory pink paint is original to the car, s are the interior, park plug wires, nd exhaust system. Several oil change stickers document the mileage, nd the car appears to have been well-maintained during it's time on the road. I was very careful to only clean and evaluate the car, nd no attempt has been made to get it running or alter it in any way. The engine does turn over by hand, o with some effort, he new owner should be able to wake it up their way. I also connected a battery, nd the turn signals, orn, nterior light, nd AC blower all function. The power windows, eadlights, nd wipers do not, o the wiring will need some attention. Several desert packrats had made their home in this car during storage, nd they love to nibble on wiring. Please expect to spend some time on the electrical, ut most of the damage appears simple to repair. Also, miscreant broke into the garage at one point and damaged the trunk lock. The cylinder has been removed, ut the trunk latch still functions well, nd the damage is limited to the area immediately around the lock hole. The glass all looks to be in excellent condition, ut the driver's window was left in the down position during storage. The car has not been outside with the window uncovered, ut you will need to service the power windows, s it appears that they are not getting power. I have not tried to engage the starter, lthough the ignition switch does turn on the idiot lights and accessories. The chrome and stainless trim are in excellent condition throughout, nd nothing appears to be missing or damaged. There are no signs of rust anywhere on the car, s it has spent it's entire life in Tucson, rizona. The underside, loors, ockers, nd suspension components are all solid, nd I have included pictures for verification. The body is very straight, ith one crease on the passenger door, nd a few small dings elsewhere. The paint is original, lthough it appears that the hood was re-sprayed at one point. The interior will need attention, ut has excellent original door panels, lus a near-perfect factory headliner. The gauges and steering wheel are excellent, along with all the interior trim, un visors, nd armrests. The top of the passenger door panel shows cracking, ut the others are very well preserved. The seats, eat foam, arpet, nd dash pad will all need restoration. All four tires hold air for transport, ut they are at least thirty years old and not safe for road use. I do have the spare, hich is flat but will be included in the sale. The car is available for inspection at my house in Tucson Arizona, nd I will gladly show by appointment.
