1977 Ford Bronco - 302 Auto Trans, Power Steering and Brakes, A/C. Ranger package.
I look to be the third owner as I purchased from the daughter of the fellow who bought the Bronco on 7/25/83 with 50k miles on it from Vickery Chevrolet in Greenville MS. Purchase price was $4,353.50 at the time. I have the original invoice for the 1983 sale, Warranty Card, Owner's manual and numerous other registration an maintenance records.
Exterior - The truck has been in AL and MS its whole life and is in great shape as far as rust goes. A lotof dirt underneath but not lots of rust. It was repainted years ago in the original color and still looks great from 10 feet away. The prep work looked not to be the greatest and there is some surface rust under the stainless trim on the rear quarters and some cracking on top of the front fenders. The drip rail aroundthe roof is a little rusty, but I have purchased a nearly new roof with seals and hatch that will go with the truck. Mainly got the new top because a sunroof was cut in the original one (gotta love the 70's!!). The truck had a winch on it which was removed before I purchased it, as per the slot cut in the front bumper. Truck is by far not perfect but great to ease around town and backroads or would make a great example for a full resto. Not a lotof these unrestored in this condition.
Interior - The interior is mostly original and not butchered up. Still has wiper motor cover and sun visors (I have extras also). Headliner is good. Sunroof does not leak (but is not my style).The seats are great with no rips or wear and the rest of the interior looks good for an unrestored truck. Last owner used for duck hunting and had the rear seat out and a dog box in the back. Because of this the carpet is faded around where the dog box was located. All knobs and gaugesare there. All gauges seem to work except for the gas gauge on one of the tanks.I do fill up whenever I get a chance as I still never really trust the gas guages on these trucks.The old school JVC stereo and pioneer speakers work periodically but when driving I just throw our big JBL bluetooth speaker in the back and it sounds great (speaker not included). The stereo set up is really period correct and kinda cool. The truck is fitted for A/C and all the hardware is there but the compressor needs a clutch. I have not taken the time to research the compressor to make the fix. It has a new steering wheel but does need a dashpad.
Mechanical - The truck has the original 302 which has been gone through years ago as per the receiptsincluded. It cranks and runs well. Both fuel tanks work and are connected to and electric fuel pump. It spits and sputters every once in a while but always keeps going. I put a starter on it and need to shim it a littleas the flexplate sometimes rattles a bit after starting. The rearend was making noise and had a vibration so I put in a new drive shaft and tore the rear in down. The rearend had been into before but looked good enough to put back together and drive. There is still a small grinding noise at times, its much better but this would be the only area I might address by just getting a full rearend and swapping it out. Trans shifts good and of course leaks a little. The truck has a large aluminum radiator and with the A/C added the hood latch was removed for more space and so the hood pins were used ( this vehicle was originally built by the owner to use not be a garage queen). I also added new shocks to try and make it drive a little better. Tires and wheels are old but still have good tread and are useable.
Overall - The truck is a 1977 Bronco in base form. It is not modernized and drives like crap just like an old Bronco should. Having power brakes and steering does make it drive a little better than those trucks that were made without either. In 1985 my first vehicle was a 1974 Bronco and everytime I drive this one it puts a smile on my face. The quirky handling and braking take me back to a much simpler time. This truck can serve as a time machine or with some work can be made into a restored "designer" Bronco. I have taken the truck out on two 200 mile round trips with no problems (I would still recommend trailering or shipping a long distance). Its solid and all here. I have owned the truck for 8 months and love it but have decided to restore our family 1966 F100. This is not a distress sale or "have to" sell situation.
The truck is located in NW Alabama and is for sale locally and I reserve the right to sell as such. I will not ship but will help meet up with buyer or shipper. Of course nothing leaves until funds are paid in full. Alabama does not title vehicles of this age so a Bill of Sale will be prepared for transfer. Vehicle mileage is 27,420 but above mechanical limits.
