In 1970 Ford came out with a brand new look the Torino giving it a lower profile and sleeker look. Of the Torinos sold by Ford in 1970 less than 11% of those were Cobras. Of those Torino Cobras only 5% were 429 Super Cobra Jets. The Super Cobra Jet / Drag Pack option has several unique differences including: Holley carburetor, intake manifold, solid lifters, pistons, V Code 3.91 gears, Traction-Lok nodular rear end, and comes with the addition of an oil cooler. The 429 Super Cobra Jet engine came with more horsepower than a regular 429 Cobra Jet engine, which end up being a healthy 375 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque from the factory. This amount would give the Torino plenty of power back in 1970 and still today.So how original is this ‘70 Torino Cobra, let’s get to it. This unrestored 24,10x mile Torino Super Cobra Jet was purchased by Ed Meyer off its original owner in Oregon just 13 years ago and has been in Ed’s collection since. It is finished in its original color and very desirable Calypso Coral with Black interior. The unrestored Torino Cobra comes documented with its original numbers matching drivetrain front to back with the 429SCJ engine, 4 speed toploader, and rear end. The body is completely original to the car including floors. It still contains its complete original tint glass, beautiful original black interior excluding the addition of a Pioneer Stereo, original carpet, and is very original under the hood containing nearly all original components with the exception of Smog. The trunk contains its original trunk mat, spare wheel and tire, jack, jack stand, and handle.
