1966 Ford Bronco

Original paint 1966 Ford Bronco

This Bronco spent its life in the Black Hills of Wyoming on the outskirts of Devils Tower.
This is a True Uncut 1966 Original Paint bronco with absolutely awesome Patina !
This bronco was used on a daily basis by one family on an old homestead in the hills of Wyoming until it was parked because of the clutch. A little under 67,000 miles were put on this Bronco before the clutch disk went out. Once that happened it was parked and has been sitting in the same spot on that homestead ever since then until we acquired it.
When we got it home we decided to put her back on the road. The first thing we did was test the motor to see if the motor was in great shape. After determining that the motor was in tip top shape, we carefully removed the motor and ordered a complete new clutch kit for it. We installed the clutch and reinstalled the engine. The gas tank was removed and drained and reinstalled with a new gas tank brass float. A new radiator was installed with upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat, coolant, and radiator cap. The oil was changed with new oil filter and spark plugs.
We also installed a new ignition switch, gas cap, horn button kit, steering column shifter housing, turn signal yoke, battery, and brake master cylinder kit. The fan belt could be replaced but seems to be working fine for now. This Bronco sat in the same place for over 25 years once the clutch went out and the carburetor was not removed, cleaned, or rebuilt and is working flawlessly !! That is almost hard to believe but it is true !
Our goal when we brought the Bronco home was to touch as little as possibly on it in order to get it back on the road and to make sure that none of its originality was damaged or destroyed.
The tires that are now on this Bronco are the tires that were on it when found. All 4 of them were completely flat for 25 years and have all held air since the day we brought it home ! The tires need to be replaced for sure if you plan on driving this bronco daily.
Some adjustments or maintenance needs to still be performed on the bronco. We ordered 4 new high quality wheel cylinders for it and they will need to be installed but are included.
The charging system is only putting out about 12.8 volts so the alternator looks like it will need to be restored or replaced at some point.
Its possible that it is just a small wiring issue as well. We have been driving it around our place with no issues once running but upon first start we usually jump it. We installed a new horn button kit and turn signal yoke but the harness needs to be tinkered with at the bottom of the column to get the horn to honk. Could be a fuse ?The horn itself does test good.
The radio does turn on and i was able to get a few stations to play on the radio !
The CB face lights up but i could not get any sort of noise to come across on the speakers using the CB. I think that all of the little issues that need to be tinkered with should not be much of a big deal and will be fun to figure out !
The motor runs super smooth and does not blow smoke. We have driven around town on short trips around the block and all of the gears shifted well. We also tested the transfer case and it shifted into high and low.
We would recommend checking / testing all drivetrain fluids and going through basic maintenance on this bronco before driving it long distances or daily. We have not done so.

I have had some questions about the bronco in the last few days. Below will answer all of them as well as any other things i can think of that might need tinkering at some point.

The bronco title does match the vin tag on the drivers side kick panel at the RH passenger side frame serial number also matches.
The front floors do have some pitting on them and some rust holes so it could need a set of front LH and RH front floor patches at some point.
The interior floor does need to be cleaned more and there were some mice nests in the bronco that were vacuumed up but could used some additional cleaning.
We have additional photos of the underneath of the bronco and have laid under it and inspected it and it looks really solid underneath other than the front floor tin that was already mentioned.
The glass is all original as far as we can tell. The vacuum wipers do work but the rubber lines look like they will need to be replaced and new wiper blades need to be installed.
The master cylinder kit was installed ( high quality napa ) and the brake lines were all blead and working but after driving it around for awhile we lost brake pressure so i ordered 4 high quality napa brand wheel cylinders for it and they will be included with the bronco but not installed.
We changed the oil and filter in the motor and fuel filter, replaced radiator and added new fluid.
The ignition was replaced and so was the turn signal yoke and horn button. The horn tests good but does not honk with the button. Also The lights did come on and the tail lights but not the brake lights. The turn signals did not flash either. I'm assuming it will need some tinkering / testing / and minor repairs to some of the wiring regarding the lights, turn signals, radio ect to get it all working perfectly.
There are some small dings / dents on the bronco which are visible in photos. The LH rear side of the bronco under the window has a dent that needs to be smoothed out and repaired ( ranch kid on the homestead was not paying attention and bumped into it )
We have not checked the gear oil in the tranny or rear end or taken the rear end or transmission apart or out of the truck. The transmission feels smooth when you shift it. The shifter mechanism did feel somewhat sticky when we tried to shift it after putting the clutch kit in it but after lubricating it really well and working it back and forth it seems to be working as it should now when you shift from gear to gear. The carburetor was not rebuilt but seems to be working fine ( would recommend gaskets in it if it will be driven regularly)
The rear liftgate is in good shape and we had it open one time but it is stuck shut probably due to the little tab on the end of the bed needing adjustment. The lever itself moves in and out like it should. Upper liftgate opens and closes and stays open like it should.
The front seat cover does not appear to be original ? but might need new vinyl and foam at some point in time if a person chooses to do so. Some field mice were also under the seat and made a few nests which we vacuumed out to the best of our ability.
If you need additional photos please send your email with your initial message and i can forward you all of the extra photos to your personal email as an attachment.
