1966 Ford Mustang

The great thing about early Mustangs is that almost no two are alike, ven from the factory. They're also extremely easy to modify with great results, nd it's almost impossible to build an ugly one. This great-looking 1966 Mustang coupe draws on the Carroll Shelby school of Mustangs, ith an awesome color combination and a few upgrades from the Mustang parts bin that turn it into a great cruiser that sounds positively predatory. The Midnight Blue paint with white stripes is a classic and elegant look that fits the coupe body style extremely well. No, t's not the original plain-Jane Wimbledon White, ut that doesn't mean it doesn't look awesome. The bodywork is nicely done, nd there have been no questionable modifications to the body, ust a few Shelby-style details like the hood scoop and C-scoops on the quarter panels which make this Mustang stand out in a crowd. You'll note that the painter went the extra mile on the stripes, xtending them over the roof and into the rear valence panel in an unbroken line, hich isn't so easy to do. Details are crisp, ncluding the 289 badges on the front fenders, hich don't quite tell the full story, lus a few GT-spec items like the rear valence with exhaust trumpets and a smooth billet grille up front. While not exactly subtle, he finished product is handsome and very appealing and certainly delivers on the Mustang's reputation for fun. If the interior looks a little unusual, hat's because this pony sports a gorgeous two-tone Pony interior. The black-and-white combination works quite well in this application, ending a bit of formality to the coupe body style and keeping a more subtle attitude where the body is extroverted. Recent seat covers are high quality and professionally installed, he matching door panels look great, nd the black carpets are brand new. Original gauges in a GT-spec dashboard look great through the spokes of that thick wood-rimmed steering wheel that looks like it was borrowed from a Shelby. A center console is a welcome addition, utting the T-handled shifter for the C4 3-speed automatic transmission within easy reach. The original AM radio is still in the dash and the trunk is nicely outfitted with a set of black carpets instead of the original plastic mat.The engine is an upgraded 302 cubic inch V8, opped by a 4-barrel carburetor and feeding a Flowmaster true dual exhaust system that sounds amazing. The engine bay is actually very nicely finished, ith a Ford Racing dress-up kit featuring finned valve covers and a Mustang air cleaner that's reminiscent of the dual-quad setups of the '60s. A coat of Ford Blue paint gives the block a proper corporate look, nd it fires quickly, dles well, nd has a great small-block eagerness that the big block cars always lacked. Underneath, t's nicely finished and there are signs of proper maintenance, ith effective brakes and a suspension that rides firmly but doesn't beat you up, nd with 2.80 gears in back, t's effortless on the highway. For a period performance look, t wears a set of Cragar wheels and newer 235/60/15 Goodyear radials that really fill the wheel wells. There are still some very nice Mustangs out there for not a lot of money, nd this is a unique, lassic Mustang that you can drive regularly. It doesn't get much better than that. Call us today!
