1931 Ford Other PickupsModel A coupe hot rod project
31 coupe body on a custom tube frame. Chopped and channeled. Very well constructed project will all of the hard work done. I took the car to this point so you could finish it how you want. This coupe has all the right parts to build a killer traditional hot rod.
31 coupe body chopped 6.5" and chanelled 3â€. All patch panels installed. Really nice set of doors that needed no patches. This was not a super nice body to start with but it was not a rusted out mess either. A screwed on roof insert was removed and all the holes welded up. The back half of the quarters were replaced. Panels were all welded in properly, the body was straightened up and a stout sub floor was made. The X frame behind the seat gives it a ton of strength. 18 ga mild steel floor. Designed for lots of leg room. Will fit drivers over 6' tall. The window garnish mouldings are chopped and installed. The visor is tacked on so if you want to install an top wood kit (I would) cut it loose and it's ready to install. There is no filler in this body. The outside was blasted and it is in epoxy primer. What you see is what you get no surprises. 35 Ford dash installed. It is removable and the glove box functions well. Doors open and close nice with stock latches and handles. New chopped 32 grill shell. Designed to fit 4" chopped radiators. Blc 904-a headlights on modified stock headlight bar.
Frame is a jig built 2x3 tube with a 3" Z in front and 10" kickup out back. Flat front crossmember and model a rear. 2" tube K-member. It is 100 percent finished and epoxy primed. Eight body mounts.
The front end is an original 32 axle that I had dropped. 35 bones and 46 Ford spindles and brakes. Spindles are dropped and re-bushed. 32 spring. Rear axle is a 40 Ford banjo with 3.73 gears and a model a spring. Front 40 ford knee action shocks and rear tube shocks. Drums are all useable. Just need shoes and wheel cylinders.
The engine is a 46 Ford Flathead V-8. Removed from a restored car that got a drivetrain swap. Should be a runner as is. Has a 9" clutch and is mated to a good used 3-speed top-loader transmission. The torque tube and driveshaft were professionally shortened up. New hydraulic slave cylinder setup. New tig welded lake headers. The edmunds intake is included but is cracked with a repair attempt. Might be safe able. Two Holley 94 carbs. Stock intake also included.
The coupe has 1940 ford 16" wheels. Tires are rollers but could be used depending on what you want to do. Some big and little bias ply tires would give this car the perfect rake. Trim rings included. No caps.
Steering is handled by a 1940 Ford wheel mated to a 40 Ford mast jacked turned into a steering column. Functional 34 Ford column drop with key. New steering joints and Vega steering box. Tie rod and drag link are used for mock-up only.
I've been working on this for over a year in between customer cars. As far as the pedals go I was planning on a swinging ansen style clutch and brake setup using early Chevy master cylinder. Some hardware, shackles, pieces and parts are installed for mock up and will need a once over before completed. The rear end was disassembled and inspected. It could be used as is, or replace whatever bearings you want. Driveshaft will need to be re installed. Floor tunnel will need to be finished once you get the pedals etc figured out. Only one door top garnish is included. Windshield frame is not chopped yet. It is included as well as the stock slides. You can disassemble this car in a few hours. It is very easy to work on. If it doesn't not sell I will likely get it running.
If your local come check it out and buy in person.
