Description:

1954 Ford F-100 Mercury M100

1954Mercury M100 (Ford F100) Pickup Truck. This truck requires a full restoration but is remarkably solid with an incredible rust free cab floor. An excellent candidate for a full restoration due to rarity and minimal rust. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. Contact must be made within 24 hours of the auction ending or it will be assumed that you have no intention of honoring your bid and the truck will be offered to others. Zero Feedback bidders must make contact prior to bidding.
It has a remarkably solid, mostly rust free body with a lot of original paint giving a nice 'patina'. The only rust through on the body of the truck that I've found is on the rear fenders, running boards and a little in the passengers side cab corner. This is extremely minor for its age and very impressive to see on an un-restored 1954 farm truck. The floorboards are very impressive and remarkably solid. The door bottoms are also rust free. All emblems are present minus the 'C' on the hood. The all important Mercury tailgate is in good shape for its age and not rusted. There are a few typical farm work related dents on this trucks fenders and it may be wise to seek new ones if undertaking a full restoration. The family that we got it from had allowed their two young sons attempt to start restoring this truck so you will find things such as the hood hinges not attached and some newer looking nuts/bolts used in places. Fortunately we rescued it in time before any damage was done. Overall this is a good solid and original example of a very rare 1955 Mercury M Series pickup truck.
The interior is complete minus the seat, unfortunately it was thrown out by the previous owners. The instrument cluster and dashboard is in good shape. The ashtray is missing also.
Being a Canadian market truck it would have come new with a 255 Flathead V8. The final year for the Flathead V8 in Canada was 1954, not 1953 as in the US. Unfortunately the original motor and transmission were pulled and scrapped before we got to the truck. We do however have a 1952 Mercury 255 Flathead V8 and 3 speed manual transmission in excellent running condition available for sale right now. This will be offered to the winning bidder at additional cost. Please see the final photos of this listing. Alternatively this truck could be used for a unique resto-mod and the opportunity taken to install a modern drivetrain.
Due to the much smaller Canadian market, Ford of Canada only sold approximately one tenth as many trucks as Ford did in the US and around two thirds of those were Ford's leaving the remaining third to be Mercury's. So very few of these trucks were produced and it is becoming much harder for us to source nice original and complete examples such as this. Due to Canada's harsh climate only a handful remain today.1954 was the lowest production number year for Mercury trucks. This is due to huge wheat surpluses for the first time since before the war causing farm incomes to rapidly decline in 1954. This in turn had a huge affect on Canadian farmers purchasing trucks due to wheat being Canada's largest agricultural commodity. This wasn't such an issue out east so you will find more 1954 Mercury trucks out east but the trouble is they are all severely eaten away by rust. It is very seldom that you see 1954 Mercury's out west where the climate is much kinder to the body's making this a very special find.
This will make a great project being that it is a very rare truck with very little rust to contend with and is an open canvas in regards to drivetrain options. It deserves to be used and driven again for the world to see. Selling withNo Reserveto the highest bidder. We describe these vehicles as thoroughly as possible with detailed photographs as we are aware the majority of buyers are a long way away. You are more than welcome to view the truck, have it inspected and request as many photos as you like before the auction ends.
If you would like a shipping quote please message us and we will provide you with the contact information of our preferred shippers that are very familiar with loading and hauling the type of vehicles that we sell. who we are and what we do

We are two brothers who seek out original trucks and cars from all across Canada, specializing in vehicles from the 40s, 50s and 60s.

Most American barn finds have long since been found and tampered with by multiple owners; North of the border there still seems to be an abundance of good, solid, original vehicles, waiting to be brought back to life.

We make thesevehicles available to the US market by taking care of importation and providing all paperwork required to obtain a ClearUS Title, in your name and home State.

We are passionate about finding the best there is and understand that our customers wantto see automobiles that have not been tampered with; The more original, the better.

Our inventory is regularly updated, as new finds are unearthed. If there is something specific that you are looking for, then let us know and we'd be happy to see if we can help.

The business we conduct is straightforward and honest. Whether you're looking for something that'sall original, a starting point for a restoration project or the bones for a custom build, Bison Brothers are here to help.
