1973 Ford Transit 130 Camper Van RV Motorhome (ex German Depart. Fire Truck)

Price: - Item location: Wayzata, Minnesota, United States
Description:

1973 Ford Other

This is my 1973 Ford Transit 130 Camper van, that was converted by the previous owner in 2001 while in Germany, from a fire support vehicle for the German Volunteer Fire Service vehicle, based in Bruck near Cologne. It was rarely used in the small town, hence the low mileage today of 27,855 Miles (44,569 KM). The outside of the vehicle retains the original ladder rack with original wooden ladders, the original volunteer fire service logos on the doors and the blue rotating beacon ( Disabled to comply with Minnesota law).

The paint is original with areas touched up while in-service with the German Fire Service. The chassis does not even have any surface rust.

Ebay does not recognize international VIN numbers, I can confirm the VIN is 4031449, issued by Ford (Koln) Germany, the year and model year match the Minnesota clear title document. The title is in my name and is titled as a classic vehicle.

When the conversion was completed to a camper, the previous owner drove it through Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom before shipping it to California. Various stickers on the vehicle confirm that.

The vehicle was imported into the USA in 2001 and stayed with the same owner based in California until 3 years ago when I bought it. The previous owner used to sleep in it when he took his classic cars to the Monterrey car shows.

The conversion was well done and provides the following:

·Insulated body with carpeted walls and ceiling.

·Insulated floor with linoleum floor, for ease of clearing.

·Removable platform for Double Bed and Double air bed ( The sales includes a new 2 person airbed)

·When the bed platform is not required, it is stored under the internal mountain bike rake

·The Internal Mountain bike rack pulls out from the rear (see photo) and is weighted for 500 LBs to carry 2 mountain bikes or use for additional storage.

·Storage lockers on both sides under the bed.

·Separate leisure 100 Ah leisure battery for lighting and USB/12V powering of devices.

·Fold out table

The rear door windows are tinted.

·New unused Porta Potty located in bench seat .

The engine was converted 3000 miles ago to run on 87 Unleaded fuel. The engine is common to other Fords and Saab models sold in the USA, so spares have been no issue.

The camper averages 25 MPG

It also has dual wheels on each side on the rear, providing extra traction and load capacity.

The chassis is in excellent condition as it has never seen salt or winter driving.

In the last 12 months, the following work has been carried out:

·Engine removed seals, hoses and gaskets replaced as a precaution, due to age.

All Timing gear replaced.

·New Radiator

·Brakes and exhaust replaced

Automatic carb replaced with manual Weber for better fuel economy and reliability.

The vehicle comes with an extensive history file and photographic history, that will be provided with the vehicle. The vehicle comes with a very thick folder of receipts work completed over the last 18 years.

Also included is a large collection of spares, which I will provide in storage boxes in the back of the vehicle, various maintenance manuals and original sales brochures.

For shipping purposes the vehicle dimensions are as below:

Overall dimensions: length 202", height 93", width 78"

We have used it as more as a weekend camper, driving to lake camp sites, to camp and use our mountain bikes. The vehicle as it dates from the 1970's prefers to stay between 50 and 60 MPH, so if you are in a rush, this is not the vehicle for you. Also if you are after a stealth camper this is not for you.

If you always wanted a fire truck, but do not have the space for a full size vehicle, this also could be an option for you.

The reason we are selling is we have purchased a lake home and rarely use the vehicle now.

The vehicle will not be released until full payment has been received and processed by the bank. Title will be sent by FedEx with signature required.

New owner must provide driver license details, name and address to allow title to be signed over.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Note the vehicle is being re-advertised due to a non paying bidder, who after the auction was closed and won wanted to pay by credit card, even though this option was not offered. I am a private seller, so cannot offer payment by credit card.
