1956 Ford Thunderbird --

Very nicely optioned and cosmetically restored 1956 Ford Thunderbird For Sale! This stunning classic is fitted with a powerful 312ci V8 with Offenhauser tri-carb intake, Cruise-O-Matic, power steering, power brakes, power windows, a power seat, wire spoke hubcaps and porthole hardtop. A stand out collector car finished in factory coded Raven Black over Red/White interior! Introduced in 1955, Ford's Thunderbird was arguably a response to Chevrolet's Corvette that dazzled the country in 1953. Instead of competing directly within the sports... car market, Ford strived to steal attention and launched the car in a new niche category as a "Personal Luxury Car". These cars were, from the beginning, intended not for practicality but rather for function-follows-form touring. These buyers were wealthy, demanded the best styling, options, and ease of drivability of only the greatest cars on the road without sacrificing comfortability or reliability. As a result, it was customary to find cushioned rides and big V8 power plants, with automatic transmissions, and full power accessories as optional equipment. None did this better than the original 1955-57 "Baby Bird" that remains a classic car style icon even almost 60 years later! We are excited to represent this 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible For Sale finished in a beautiful, code correct, A-Raven Black over XB- Red/White interior! The car is powered by a completely rebuilt 312ci V8 and Fordomatic automatic transmission, with factory appointed 3.70:1 rear axle ratio. This classic car is fitted with great options such as power steering, power brakes, power windows, 4-way power seat, engine dress-up kit, pushbutton Custom Sound AM/FM digital radio with 10-disc CD changer in the trunk, heater/defrost, windshield washer, telescoping steering column, cabin tonneau cover, and fender skirts. The car rides on BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial wide whitewall tires measuring 205/75R15 all around, which are finished with period correct wire spoke wheel covers! With an older cosmetic restoration, the exterior paint, chrome, interior upholstery, and undercarriage can all be described as good to very good overall. Maintaining an original classic Thunderbird look was a priority, and as a result, the car will impress any Thunderbird enthusiasts while enabling the driver to enjoy the convenience and comforts of several favored options. The engine bay is nicely detailed with the unique addition of an Offenhauser aluminum intake system with triple Ford 94 carburetors. Our engine was rebuilt by Cote Motor Co. in Boston, MA with a .032 bore and new .010 main & rod bearings. Cote Motor Co was a Ford Authorized Dealership that also specialized in engine warranty repairs and replacements before closing more than 3 decades ago. Today, the odometer on our classic car for sale displays only 47,925 miles which may be actual considering its longtime collector owned status, but we do not have enough records to support any actual mileage claims. This classic Thunderbird example sold originally from a Richmond, Virginia dealer in the Spring of 1956. It later made its way to Florida where records indicate it was serviced by St. George Automotive LLC beginning in September 2012. This included a full compression check at 46,651 miles showing all cylinders equally reading 125psi. New plugs were installed at this time, along with a rebuilt starter and solenoid, along with complete transmission service. More recently in 2017, once in St. Louis, the Offenhauser tri-carb set up was installed with fuel regulator and metering block. It makes for a great conversation starter at Ford shows and continues to start with the flick of the key allowing it to run magnificently. The original Ford intake and carburetor are included as well. This 1956 Ford Thunderbird For Sale comes complete with a jack and lug wrench, trunk mat, tire changing instructions on the trunk lid, and reproduction inspection stickers throughout. A very nice Ford Thunderbird with a few criticisms visible under closer inspection, making for an excellent driver at this asking price!
