The Ford Galaxie was the primary full-sized model of automobile built in the United States by the Ford Motor Company for model years 1959 through 1974. A version of the car was produced in Brazil under the names Galaxie 500, TD and Landau from 1968 to 1982. As often is the case with American cars, he model names shifted around from year to year, ut the Galaxie was always Ford's full-size car. In the late 1960s, he low trim Fords would be the Ford Custom 500, hile the high end would be the XL and LTD, ut the Galaxie was normally the high volume counterpart to the Chevrolet Impala.

Some Galaxies were high-performance, acing specification machines, larger forebear to the muscle car era. Others were plain, amily sedans.

1964 was the fourth and final year of this body style. Interior trim was much altered, ut externally things stayed much the same. The base Ford 300 model was dropped for 1964, eplaced by a line of Custom and Custom 500 models.

Introduced in 1958, he Ford 352 (of 351.9 inĀ³ or 5.77 L displacement) was the replacement for the Y-block series. It was simply a stroked (to 3.5 in or 88.9 mm) version of the 332. Rated from 208 hp (155 kW) (2-barrel carb) to over 300 hp (224 kW) (4-barrel police interceptor models).

This series of engines were all known for excellent torque and durability. These engines usually weighed over 750 lb (340 kg). Bore of this version was 4 in (102 mm), ith a 3.5 in (89 mm) stroke.
