This was the first appearance of a major restyle. and it followed Detroit's maxim of lower. wider. and longer. These cars have nice styling touches like the line that follows the front fender all the way into the door. and a recessed back panel that gave it a sporty overhang in the rear. The Mustang was given these elongated lines to create a meaner appearance. and aggressive is exactly how this drop top was built to look. The shine of the fresh red paint provides the perfect backdrop to all the dark accents. This includes the Mach 1 triple stripe. soft top. front spoiler. and NACA hood with blacked-out paint over the dual ram air openings. The roll bar was added to offer more safety and body stability. But in reality. it also gives this convertible an added sporting touch by visually connecting it to the Shelby Mustang convertibles from the previous model years.
