Description:

1971 Ford Torino

You are looking at an ORIGINAL C-code 429 Cobra Jet Torino GT Sportsroof that was ordered originally as a NON-Ram Air Cobra Jet Car.

This car is a Super Solid always Southern Car (Texas/Georgia) that has lived it's entire life in the Dallas/Atlanta metropolitan areas

This car was a Retail Order at Edwards Ford Sales in Lancaster, TX. It was ordered in the Dallas 61 DSO in Maroon with a Laser Stripes and a Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior

This '71 Torino GT Sportsroofper the Deluxe Marti Report was originally ordered as follows:
429 CJ Non Ram Air V-8 Engine C-6 Automatic Transmission3.25 GearedConventional RearMaroon PaintBlack VinylBench Seat InteriorBody Side Tape StripeHidden HeadlampsPower SteeringPower Disc BrakesAir ConditioningElectric ClockVisibility GroupG70-14 Belted White Sidewall TiresAM-FM RadioTinted Glass
That was THEN and THIS is NOW!!
This 1971 429 Cobra Jet Torino has been transformed from an everyday garden variety Torino GT to the Muscled up Street Fighter you see today.
The original 429 CJ is LONG GONE and this Torino Now sports a 502 Cubic Inch Stroker Motor making right at 600 Tire Shredding Horsepower on the Dyno.It has been completely gone through by the previous owner with all High Performance Parts. Motor has All MSD Electronics with adjustable timing and RPM limiter. PRO Systems 4150 Carburetor, Edelbrock Aluminum Intake, Aluminum Water Pump, Hooker Super Comp Headers and more.
There is a NEW Griffin Radiator that has been installed to keep things cool.
There is a complete Barry Grant Fuel Delivery System that has been installed on the car. From the trunk mounted fuel cell and 1/2 inch fuel line ensuring there will be no fuel starvation for this 502 Cubic Inch Monster.
To handle the power of the 502 Stroker motor the car now sports a High Performance Broader Performance C-6 Transmission with a TCI Super Street Fighter Stall Converter and a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter.
The 3.25 geared 9 inch rear end has been upgraded to hook this beast up and now is running a new Detroit Truetrac Locker and a new 3.73 ratio ring and pinion.
A set of Cal-Trac traction bars were also added to help put the power to the ground.
There is a NEW set of Magnum 500 wheels with NEW tires on the car. The tires are BF Goodrich Radial TA's up front and to firmly plant the power this car delivers to the pavement there is a massive set of 295-65-15 Mickey Thompson ET Soft Compound Tires in the rear.
The Torino has been treated to a Bare Metal Repaint in this Stunning Maroon hue you see here. The body on this car was super solid but did have to the lower rear quarter sections replaced as the mighty 502 sheared the wheel studs on the right rear wheel and the tire wadded up the panel. The left quarter had been damaged sometime in the cars past and it was decided to replace the section rather than repair it.
The paint on the car is stunning and while certainly not perfect it is definitely a crowd pleaser everywhere it goes. The depth of image on the car is fantastic and the body is Super Straight!! There are new weatherstrips on the doors so they shut solid and tight.
The Black Bench Seat Interior needs some attention but is relatively complete and still very serviceable; will need to be redone. Some folks prefer Bucket Seats, While other may opt for a pair of Racing Buckets to put in this Street Fighter so rather than re-doing the bench seat in the car I elected to leave it as it is and let the next owner make the call with their personal preference.
I do have New Carpet and a New Headliner that are included with the car.
There is a Full Complement of Auto Meter Gauges in the car to include Tachometer with Shift Light, Fuel Pressure, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, and Trans Temperature gauges.
This car was built to be a Street Brawler with very little creature comforts. No Heat, No AC, No power robbing accessories. Just Power Disc Brakes to stop the vicious Hulk after a 1/4 mile jaunt.
This car was purpose built to be a Friday Night Street Fighter, a Boulevard Bruiser, and all around Pavement Pounder!!
Undoubtedly you will need someparts and pieces for this car as you finish it to your desired level of finished, but it is a Great car just as it is with Bare Knuckled Brute Horsepower and Stunning Good Looks!!
The Hard/Expensive work has been done and is ready for the next owner to take the car to his/her's idea of finished.
To be clear this is a HOT ROD and like most is a cold blooded beast. If you have never driven a rear wheel drive with this kind of asphalt annihilating power it can prove to be a handful and not for the meek or inexperienced! It is very old school with some newer tech to squeeze all the power out of the car and put it to the pavement.
This by no means a perfect car nor a finished restoration; but is a Beautiful, High Horsepower Hot Rod, with Cobra Jet Provenance.
I will leave it up to the next owner to take it to the next level or terrorize the track as it is.
Overall this is a nice C-code 429 Cobra Jet 1971 Torino GT Sportsroof thatis a Super Solid Southern car with a Stout Drivetrain and mechanicals, and a Stunning Bare Metal Repaint. Cobra Jet Cars like do not come along very often as most you find are rusted to death carcasses or over restored cars priced in the stratosphere.
