1989 Ford Mustang GT

8,707 ACTUAL MILE Mustang GT Convertible 5.0L V8 5 speed A/C /// This low-mileage GT still wears a nicely maintained coat of Regatta Blue single-stage that was sprayed by the good folks at Dearborn Assembly. And when the weather acts up, a Blue convertible top, 1 of only 1,795 installed for the 1989 model year, comes swiftly to the rescue. In keeping with vaunted Mustang tradition, 1989's most popular engine choice was the venerable 5.0 liter Windsor V8. While this... mill made its first appearance in the budget-minded Fairlane, it eventually became a trusted ally on the highway, drag strip and road course. Like the rest of this Ford, the 8,707-mile powerplant is immaculately preserved, starting easily, idling smoothly and exhibiting strong acceleration. Under the car, a tough T5 5-speed sends power to a familiar 8.8-inch axle. That Ford pumpkin pushes a factory suspension that's remained completely unaltered since rolling out of the showroom. Factory power steering proves handy in the twisties. Standard power front disc and rear drum brakes provide competent stops. There's a true-dual exhaust system, which stacks small catalytic converters in front of Ford-branded mufflers. And everything rolls on attractive turbine alloys, which twist vintage Goodyear Eagle VR60s. Between the doors, a handsome Opal Gray interior offers a great balance between daily and high performance needs. Original bucket seats are firm and supportive, showing minimal overall wear. Between those seats, a slim console centers an original tape deck between factory air conditioning and a leather-wrapped shifter. The car's stylish, 2-tone dash is in great shape and free of cracks and scratches. And in front of the driver, a black, Ford-branded steering wheel laps a tilting column and clear Ford telemetry.
