1969 Mercury Cyclone Cobra Jet

Description:

1969 Ford Torino

For sale is my R code 1969 Mercury Cyclone color code/prespoiler car. I have posted my car for sale in the Ford Torino section simply because when entering Mercury Cyclone into the sell section of eBay it directs me to the parts section and not the cars for sale section. I do not want to pay eBay to list my car in the parts section and have it be lost in the hundreds of thousands of parts listings. With that said please only bid if you fully understand that this is NOT a Ford Torino that you are bidding on and is a Mercury Cyclone Cobra Jet. My CJ is a factory R code 428 Cobra jet prespoiler car/color code car. They are called color code cars because the color code is blank on the door data plate. The red and white is it's original colors. The red roof is original paint but the white has been repainted after some bodywork prior to my ownership sometime in the 80s. My car does have all of it's factory body panels. It was off the road for 20 plus years when I decided to get it running again. It has a 390 Fe with C6 out of a 1966 Fairlane gt with floor shift. I cleaned the carb, changed the plugs and fluids, added a new radiator and got it running again but it never ran well and smoked when I got on the gas. I would buy with the intent of rebuilding the engine or building a 428 cj for it. It has brand new tires, wheels, exhaust, brakes and front wheel bearings. I did have it on the road and it passed inspection in 2016 but I parked it at the end of the year to pull the motor and transmission to put a CJ back in it but never got to it. I do have 428 cj bare heads, 2 428cj radiators, 428cj cast iron intake, CJ flex plate with spacer, 2 CJ cranks, CJ oil pan with windage tray, yellow cj trans fluid dipstick, CJ water pump and some other odds and ends included in the sale of my cj. I do have a lead on a 428 CJ auto trans that has a broken casing that I will pass the sellers info to the buyer of the car if they are interested. I added as many pictures that eBay would allow but please ask any questions that you may have. I have an excellent eBay rating and want to keep it that way. Shipping is the buyers responsibility but I know a guy. If you have less than 10 eBay transactions I will cancel your bid if we don't speak. The underside was coated prior to my ownership and looks to be solid. There is a rust hole on the front of the drivers driver's side floor pan. The frame and cowl are solid. The hood and doors are solid. I do have the door panels, they are in great shape I only removed them to repair the window track which is now fixed. My car photographs very well so please understand that the white paint is not original and is very tired. I drove it like this proudly but don't bid with the expectation that the paint is perfect. To me this car is a very cool muscle car that could be made to drive and enjoy the way it is or restore it to it's former glory. For more information on color code cars visit the Talladega spoiler registry This car is registered there with only a few known to exist. I have a clear/clean title in my name. I am happy to answer any questions. Thanks and good luck!

The exhaust manifolds are also the original 428 cj manifolds.

A little history on this specific car. This was the salesman of the year out of Smith Crossroad's personal demo. My father who owned the car in the 80's spoke to the salesman. The salesman told him that he had all expenses paid track days to promote the car. This car of course was painted at the factory in the Wood's Brothers Racing Cale Yarborough colors and outfitted with the highest HP motor available. After serving it's time as a demo car it was then sold to a realtor from North Carolina who parked the car after her son was found street racing it. From that owner it passed hands from someone in Massachusetts to my dad who acquired the car along with a factory supercharged 67 shelby. It had the current drivetrain in it that it presently has but also had the matching number drivetrain out of the car with a bad piston. He acquired all the history on the car because it was preinternet and he knew the car was special. He had all the paperwork including the window sticker. He sold the car when I was six and we located about 4 years ago (I have pictures of the car with me standing next to it from the 1980's). I purchased it and the rest is History.
