This 78 F250 has a very solid body with minimal rust and minimal modifications. Cab mounts and floors are rock solid. Bed is in very good shape with the exception of the driver's side wheel opening on the bed. The rust damage is limited to what you see so it is an easy fix. Tailgate is not the original, but is straight and functions as it should. Hood is nice but does have a scrape near the front on the driver side just above the fender line. The doors open and close well. I have attached close ups of both doors and door openings so as to properly represent their condition. It was painted about 15 years ago, but the top surfaces have blistered. No rust, but the paint is toast.
The truck originally came with a 351M engine, (H engine code) but someone put in an FE engine. I believe it is a 390, but might possibly be a 360. Either way, the engine is seized and does not turn over, so it will need to be replaced. My plan was to restore the drive line to original, but I am currently dealing with settling the estate of a parent, so my plans have changed.
The older gentleman that had the truck set it up to run on either propane or gasoline, hence the extra plumbing under the hood. My intent was to restore the truck to stock and part of that process was to remove the propane setup. It also has a fuel atomizer which is attached to the driver's side inner fender. I was going to disconnect and discard this as well. This guy was into saving money on fuel. Fortunately, these items are easily removed.
The seat was replaced with a nice later model seat with a fold-down arm rest. It may be an aftermarket seat, but it is in good shape. The dash has a cover on it and it has minimal cracks. Carpet is original piece and in remarkably good shape for it's age.
It appears to have had some front end repair. Ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. are solid and brakes look good. The hubs have been updated to Warn units somewhere along the way
I have attached the maximum number of photos allowed. I am giving an honest representation of the truck. If you have other questions or concerns, please call me at (406)539-4500 or email me. The reserve is set reasonably and is less than I have in the truck. I need to focus on other things now. This truck is much more solid than many seen on Ebay and if you can put another engine in, you will have a solid truck.
