1966 Ford Mustang

This original GT 4 speed fastback has been transformed to the next level by a flawless 3 year restoration with stunning results. It was invited to the special display at the 2009 All Ford Nationals in Carlisle, Pa and was a feature article in the January 2012 issue of Mustang Monthly magazine. The goal of this restoration was to keep the original appearance and styling of the classic Mustang, but to enhance it with modern upgrades. The quality and craftsmanship speaks for itself. There are no shortcuts or excuses. Extensive documentation, receipts and hundreds of photos demonstrate the quality of this restoration. It has been owned by the present owner for over 12 years and has been carefully driven for 1800 miles, so it is well sorted.The paint and body work is perfect with a PPG basecoat/clearcoat finish. The black paint is deep, rich and wet looking. The silver stripes with red trim on the hood roof and trunk are also clear coated. Shelby side mirrors, quarter panel air scoops and lower front valance were also added. Note: The silver stripes on the bottom of the sides are tape and not painted on the car.The bright red interior has undergone subtle upgrades to the pony interior. The seats are sport seats with wider foam and side bolsters, bright red with black inserts. The original 5 gauge instrument panel was upgraded with Stewart Warner gauges. Power windows were added using the original crank handles, a Vintageair conditioner was installed, as well as an AM/FM cassette radio.The suspension was upgraded with Gobal West, Baer, Opentracker and Flaming River parts. All rubber components were replaced with PST polygraphite products. The brakes were upgraded with SSBC front and rear 4 wheel disc brakes.The drive train received many upgrades. The engine short block is a rebuilt 302 block with .30 overbore, light weight pistons, new cam with everything balanced. The original 289 heads were machined, with new valves, seals, and guides. Spring pads were cut into the heads and competition valve springs installed. Hi Po exhaust manifolds are ceramic coated. Installed were a Griffin Aluminum radiator and electric fan, a 100 one wire alternator, hi torque starter, roller bearing clutch pedal, heim joints at the lower clutch rods and a Hurst shifter.
