1963 1/2 Galaxie 500 2-door hardtop, bench seat Package Atlanta Factory Built''Z'' Code 390 Engine 4V with Four Barrel Carburetor
Dearborn introduced the 1963.5 Galaxie 500 Sports Hardtop, the industry's first .5-year model, for the sole purpose of making their full-size entrants more competitive at the race track. Not only did the model's newfound aerodynamic prowess allow Ford racers more success, it also gave production units a more substantial appearance that handily outsold the marque's traditional 'boxtop' offering. The 390 engines, the first being the Z-code 315hp version. The P-code 330hp version is also equipped with a four-barrel. Both 390 blocks feature a 4.05 x 3.78-inch bore and stroke with a compression ratio of 10.5:1 and a torque rating of 427-lbs.ft. at 2,800 respectively.
This Galaxie came factory with the 390-4V Thunderbird Special V-8, 315 hp @ 4600 rpm, 427 ft-lbs @ 2800 rpm, 10.5:1 compression ratio. The car has been sitting at this farm for years and appears to be all there. The engine looks to be the original that came with the car. The car also looks to have come in Silver on red. There is rust here and there in the normal spots. The car ran when parked years ago. The car is for sale locally. Feel free to call with any questions. 256 335 9415.
