SITTING IN THIS TIME CAPSULE YOU WILL FEEL WHAT IT WAS LIKE TO TAKE THIS OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR ON IT'S SOLD DATE JANUARY 15,1969....THE ONLY MODIFICATIONS TO THIS BEAUTIFUL CREATURE ARE THE MODS TO THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION BUT KEEPING THE ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN!.
BODY: THE BODY IS NEAR FLAWLESS AND TOTALLY RUST FREE. THE COBRA HAD THE NW PROTECTION PACKAGE AND WAS DEALER UNDERCOATED AT TIME OF SALE. THE UNDERSIDE HAS NEVER BEEN SCRAPED, DINGED, RUSTED, REPAIRED, OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY. THE CAR MAY HAVE BEEN GARAGED IT'S ENTIRE LIFE BY HOW AWESOME THE UNDERSIDE IS. NOTHING IS OUT OF PLACE AND THERE IS ZERO EVIDENCE OF ANY FORM OF ABUSE. THE ROCKERS ARE SMOOTH, THE SEAT PANS ARE PERFECT, AND THERE ARE NO LEAKS ON THE TRAC LOC SEALS OR BRAKES WHICH IS USUALLY THE CASE FROM SITTING.
CHASSIS: THE FRONT END ON THIS GEM IS PERFECT. THERE APPEARS TO BE ALL NEW OEM UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS,BUSHINGS, AND BALL JOINTS. THE STEERING LINKAGE IS CORRECTLY MARKED AND APPEARS NEW AS DO THE SHOCKS AND SPRINGS. EVEN WITH THE ORIGINAL TYPE F 70 -14 WIDE OVAL BELTED TIRES THE CAR DRIVES NICELY. WE HAVE 4 ADDITIONAL FACTORY OEM WHEELS TO MOUNT F-70 14 WIDE OVAL RADIALS ON SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO DRIVE IT ON CRUISE INS OR ROAD TRIPS. THE CAR RUNS EXCEPTIONALLY WELL AND THERE ARE NO MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES . PERIOD. THERE ARE SMALL OIL DRIPS AT THE REAR MAIN FROM SITTING AND SEEPAGE AT THE POWER STEERING PUMP BUT THEY ARE VERY MINOR AT THIS POINT. NOTHING THAT WOULD REQUIRE A DRIP PAN.
THE INDIAN FIRE PAINT ON THIS BODY IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. THERE ARE NO DENTS AND THE PAINT LOOKS SHOWROOM. THE WEATHERSTRIPS ARE SUPPLE AND THE DOORS, TRUNK AND HOOD CLOSE PERFECTLY. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ALL FUNCTION AS DESIGNED. THE INTERIOR IS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR AND NEAR FLAWLESS. THE CARPET IS THE ONLY NON - OEM ITEM TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. THE STAINLESS AND BODY TRIM ARE EXCELLENT TO MINT. WE DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A BETTER EXAMPLE AVAILABLE BUT WE HAVEN'T SEEN IT IF THERE IS. NO! IT'S NOT AN R CODE 4 SPEED BUT IT'S ONE OF THE BEST Q CODE C6'S WE'VE EVER LAID EYES ON!
THE ENGINE IS STUNNING AND THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL IS EVIDENT. THE ENGINE IS A NUMBERS MATCHING 428 COBRA JET THAT IS UPDATED TO THE FOLLOWING : THE ENGINE HAS BEEN DECKED, BORED .035 AND FITTED WITH CUSTOM BRC FLAT TOP RACING PISTONS, EAGLE RODS, AND BHJ DAMPENER. IN ADDITION THE ENGINE IS INTERNALLY BALANCED AND FITTED WITH A REACTOR BRAND SFI APPROVED FLEX PLATE. THE HEADS WERE PORTED ON THE INTAKE AND STAINLESS STEEL INTAKE VALVES WERE INSTALLED AIRE RESEARCH ENGINEERING. THE CAM IS A CROWER HYD. UNIT WITH 230-236 DURATION AT .050 AND IT HAS A NOTICEABLE LOPE AT IDLE BUT SMOOTH NONETHELESS. THE CARB IS ORIGINAL AND STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL TAG. ALL OF THE REST OF THE ENGINE PERIPHERALS ARE ORIGINAL. WE HAVE SEEN NONE NICER THAT ARE DRIVEABLE ON A DAILY BASIS. THE C-6 TRANSMISSION HAS THE VIN STAMPED ON THE CASE. IT HAS BEEN REBUILT WITH A FORD MOTORSPORT LOW GEAR KIT AND TORRINGTON BEARINGS. THE FORD MOTORSPORT KIT MAKES FIRST AND SECOND GEAR A LITTLE LOWER FOR BETTER ACCELERATION. THE 3.00:1 TRAC LOC NODULAR 31 SPLINE REAR REAR END IS ORIGINAL AND MAKES CRUISING BETTER ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE DRIVE TRAIN HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH A COST IS NO OBJECT APPROACH. THE SAME "ONLY THE BEST WILL DO" ATTITUDE CARRIED OVER TO THE SUSPENSION THAT WAS UPDATED WITH NEARLY ALL NOS FORD COMPONENTS.
