1974 Ford Other Pickups

This classic 4 speed manual transmission pick up runs great and is a pleasure to drive. For it's age it is holding up well, but it needs a new home.

I am selling it because I need to upgrade to a 4x4 for the winter.

I have made videos of the truck driving (getting up to a whopping 80mph!) and just the engine idling. Search YouTube for "1974 Ford Courier For Ebay by jjcarterco”

I bought this truck three years ago and have put 30,000 miles on it since. The odometer only goes to 100,000, so it's hard to know what the actual mileage is.

I hope the photos I took show all most of the aesthetic cons of it. On the aesthetic side the rust needs some attention, and the black tape on the dash and drivers door are areas that could be improved. It is missing a panel in the bed that covers an access point for fuel tank (as seen in one of the photos). Also the rubber lining around the doors should get replaced soon.

It burns through oil pretty quickly, and seems to go through phases when it can be hard to shift into reverse (there is no synchromesh on the reverse gear). Remedied by either going into 3rd before reverse, or if it's really fussy turning off the truck and starting back up in reverse.

There is a fair amount of give in the steering wheel. My understanding is that this is just something that needs to be tightened up, but it has never been enough of a problem to get attention.

The bracket for the alternator needs to be replaced. It is currently working, but isn't what I would consider a permanent fix.

In the last week there has started to be a clank when accelerating (but not all the time). My assumption is the gear oil needs to be topped up, or the muffler is hitting something or the alternator is wobbling. You can hear this clank in the video of the truck driving. It's important that a potential buyer keeps in mind that once this clank gets solved there will most likely be another clank that starts up somewhere.

In the past year I replaced the alternator, carburetor and distributor, plus had some brake work done (including a new master cylinder).

Stereo works, but the tape player chews tapes.

These are rad little trucks, but this is a 43 year old truck that needs love. Let me know if you have any questions.
