1968 Ford Fairlane 500

Rare, interesting, and quite striking, this 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible is that perfect cool V8 cruiser for a very nice price.
1968 was a radical design departure for Ford's intermediate line of cars. The vertical quad headlights of the previous year were now turned horizontal and integrated into a new full-width chrome grille. The body design had a bit more of a kick-up at the rear, which gave it a more sporty personality. And the full-length trim with the aggressive red line heightens this feeling. Overall, this new Fairlane was arguably one of Ford's most attractive designs of the 1960s, because it offered an elegant simplicity that had a hint of European influence. Meadowlark Yellow is a great mellow 1960s hue, and today this factory-correct color still showcases plenty of gloss in the sunshine exactly what you want in a vintage droptop. Plus, this color makes a nice contrast to the black folding roof. The distinctive darkness continues on the American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.
Take town the power folding roof, and it reveals a factory-correct parchment interior. The premium 500-series setup appears all original, right down to the insignia trim embedded in the seats and the safety info on the dash. Even the original AM radio is still on display! Intermediate size in the '60s means plenty of room for family and friends today. And while it can seat up to six total, you'll also enjoy this Fairlane 500 when you're cruising solo. The smaller diameter sports steering wheel feels great in your hands. Beyond that, the dashboard's four round gauge pods make drivers feel like they were in an Italian sports car it's more of that European flair we mentioned from the exterior.
This convertible was optioned with Ford's F-code 302 V8 motor. It looks quite clean in the engine bay, and the bright components let you know there have been some investments here. This legendary Ford V8 has been upgraded with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and Weiand intake. So this has plenty of power to keep you motoring down the road with confidence. And that's the real point of a droptop like this. That's why it also comes with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and front disc brakes with cross-drilled and slotted rotors. If that wasn't enough to convince you this was a fantastic cruiser, then how about the upgraded Champion aluminum radiator? After all, that will keep the V8 running cool all day long.
You probably haven't seen another '68 Ford Fairlane 500 convertible lately, because they only built around 3760 the lowest production number of the Ford intermediate trims. And so there are few that are this complete and this obtainable nearly a half-century later. That's why you know you need to hurry on this deal. Call today!!!
