Description:

1970 Ford Mustang

1970 Mustang Mach 1,this car has the very desirable staggered rear shocks, which were only installed in 428 CJ 4 speed cars, Boss 302's and Boss 429's during 1968-1970. This car being a Mach 1 has to be the 428 Cobra Jet 4 spd. The engine would have been a Q or an R code depending on if it was equipped with ram air.
There is NO windshield VIN tag. There is NO VIN number stamped in the front fender apron. The door VIN sticker is no longer readable. There is NO TITLE.
The car looks like Medium Bright Blue Metallic was the original color. This car is very solid. Frame rails, torque boxes, floorpans, quarter panels, trunk drop offs are good.Drivers side front floorpan has a couple small holes, drivers side front fender, hood and trunk lid has some rust.Included is all of the lower Mach 1 body moldings and the rear honeycomb panels. The glass is all goodand original Car-lite except the windshield which is cracked. The car appears to have been in a front end collision years ago and had the front frame rails and engine compartment structure replaced. This is noticeable in the welds under the front section along with the passenger side of the cowl area. Replacement of this front clip would probably be the reason for the lack of disc brakes and lower shock tower reinforcement plates. The staggered rear shocks make this a rare Mustang, according to Marti Auto Works there were 40,975 Mach 1's built in 1970, but only 2,501 with a 428CJ, and only 1,371of those with a 4 speed transmission.
