Description:

1957 Ford Fairlane 500

You are bidding on an extremely RARE, ostly-original, arn-find, 957 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible from an estate collection we are selling this summer. This southern convertible has a V8 motor (believed to be the original 312ci), utomatic transmission and power top. This beauty is in really nice shape being mostly FACTORY original with only a few items changed and some repainted areas. I believe the drive train is original as well as 99% of the car.

She is pretty straight and has a great curb presence. Although this Fairlane has been sitting for years it does run and drive and the power convertible top does operate. This is a rare classic car with a low reserve to protect some of its value.

Please enjoy the video: http://youtu.be/cmazKlSH_3g which shows off the car like you are standing next to it.

The Body is very solid, ice, hiny, nd straight with a driver-quality paint job on most of the body. Body is fairly nice and shiny in its present state, o major dents but the paint is decades old and it does have some flaws. It’s basically a stored survivor and could be used as a cruiser or restored to original factory condition without the major expenses of rust repair. There are areas of the paint where it’s worn down to the primer and other imperfections throughout the paint as well as some chips and scratches. Only a little bit of body work is present on the lower edge of the quarter panels and some minor rust on the trunk drop-offs as pictured.

The condition of the chrome items varies. The bumpers are straight and could be polished to make it more presentable but some chrome is peeling. Mirrors and door handles need to be rechromed.

The trim is in very good shape as is the stainless.

The convertible top is in very nice condition without any damage but it needs a deep cleaning to bring out the brightness

Window channels look good and so does the glass (no cracks or sanding marks). All the exterior trim is there with minimal pitting. Doors, runk and hood operate as they should with matching keys. Weatherstripping and rubber are good for their age but are original pieces.

The Two-tone Interior is in beautiful shape (no rips or tears anywhere). The original carpeting does need to be replaced. Although it is in nice condition there may be evidence of wear due to the age of the car. Most everything works on the dash but the radio does not. The steering wheel is in good condition with minor aging.

The Drivetrain is a 312ci with 2 barrel carb which runs great, dles and drives, oesn’t overheat, r really leak. The transmission operates and shifts as it should. No problems in the rearend. There are a few items to note though. Accelerator pump is not working on the carb, aster cylinder is missing a cap and the brakes do not work although one of the brakes is hanging up a little which allows it to be moved around or loaded on a trailer. Again the car starts fine, uns, rives, teers without any major issues.

The Undercarriage is in nice condition too. Floor pans and frame are original and in good condition. Just some minor areas of rust and one rear floor pan was repaired. Trunk drop offs are nice but have evidence of rust. There was a continental kit installed at some point.

Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition with the following items replaced… battery and tires (which are white wall bias ply and in good condition, ot dry rotted), xhaust is about shot.

Car comes with one set of factory keys and clear Ohio title
