1966 Ford Mustang

Up for bid today is a 1966 Ford Mustang coupe. A super solid, straight example with a little less than 74,000 miles on the clock. Finished in a seemingly rare combination of Tahoe Turquoise with an Aqua vinyl bucket seat interior, this pony still turns heads everywhere. This is an absolutely amazing driver with more than a little giddyap thanks to some mild engine upgrades. Perfect for cruise nights as well as a little fun on the street. The current owner (for the past 10+years) is a customer of mine, and unfortunately his family has outgrown this fun little Mustang, so it is time for her to head to other pastures. Here are the finer points on this philly:
Mechanical
This is an original "C" code Mustang, in other words 289 V8 equipped from the factory with a 2 barrel carb. Prior to my clients ownership, someone went to some lengths to ensure this pony wouldn't be embarrassed on the street. The original carb and intake were replaced with Edelbrock items, specifically a Performer 500cfm 4 barrel carb and matching aluminum intake. Full headers and a throaty exhaust help the 289 to exhale efficiently and completes the external package. I have no documentation on interior mods for the powerplant, but after a few drives I'm almost convinced a nicer cam had to be part of the package! Exceptionally quick! Starts with just a pump or 2 and after a minute of warm up settles in nicely. C4 automatic (also factory) shifts like it should. No power steering or brakes.. defenitely an enthusiasts car! Speaking of brakes, they were rebuilt at the time of purchase, including drums and wheel cylinders. Other than minor repairs here and there, hasn't needed much during his ownership and has been a very reliable driver classic. Does mark her territory with an oil drip here or there. Also, the e-brake handle is broken. Rubber is geat with plenty of tread and radiator, alternator, battery and fuel tank are all newer replacements.
Body
As mentioned above, paint is "U" code Tahoe Turquoise. Repainted long before my clients ownership. Paint has held up well, but does show some minor chips and scratches that come with enjoyment and use. One thing this Mustang does not show is rust. None, zero, zilch. No bubbles anywhere! No "one spot of rust" stuff... nothing! Appears to have mostly original panels including floors and quarters. Tremendously solid everywhere, including frame rails front and rear and front aprons. Does have a small dent in the roof and a touched up chip on the driver's door that should be mentioned. These were never "Lincolns" from a ride standpoint, but a very tight and solid example that feels like its odometer reading of 74k. Chrome and glass are very nice. Driver's door does sag a touch when opened, but I'd trade an issue like that any day over some of the bondo bucket monstrosities these Mustangs often become.
Interior
Mostly original Aqua bucket seat interior is very clean. Original seat cover are in fantastic shape with no tears, holes, or worn areas. Only one sewn seam on the drivers' backrest attests to their age. Carpet is in awesome condition... I'm no Mustang maven, so not sure if this is an older replacement or an original, but either way the inside is extremely inviting. Headliner is nice as well, with a little minor pull near the rear window... if i didn't tell you, you probably wouldn't have noticed!
Seat belts present front and rear for those of you with kids. I think the pictures speak loudest here... a super nice interior that isn't your usual black, tan, or grey of today's cars.
All in all, an extremely solid, above average driver quality Mustang that is absolutley turn key. Not perfect by any means, but a great ride you can drive and enjoy today!
