1971 Ford Mustang

A genuine 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that has been cared for correctly, including a performance rebuild of the 351 V8. But more than just a cool presentation, this coupe has a great story to tell, too.Grabber Yellow follows in the great tradition of hot Mustangs in bold colors. This factory-correct hue looks great today thanks to an investment in a professional respray. There's no better way to showcase a Mach 1 than with the NACA ram air hood on a blacked-out treatment that matches the side hockey stick stripes and rear spoiler. The whole package looks great on a body as straight and clean as this one. Given the choice, we think this was the right decision to keep the front bumper body colored but leave the rear in chrome where it matches the gas cap and dual exhaust tips. But what we really like are the original wheels. Those Ford Motor Company hubcaps were standard issue back in the day, but way too many have been lost over the years. And originality is a big deal with this car. After all, it made its way from the New Jersey factory to the Charlotte ordering district when brand new, and 45 years later, this coupe remains in its home city. The interior is another exercise in the right original elements (you even have an AM/FM stereo with an 8-track!) The black vinyl is the factory correct color, and nothing looks better against the exterior yellow than this. Ford also wanted a luxury image for the Mach 1, and so this one still retains its high-back bucket seats, power steering, as well as the wood veneering on the door panels and dashboard. We do know the upholstery has been restored to retain this deep, dark appearance. Under the hood is the correct 351 Cleveland V8 for this Mustang, and it even properly wears the air cleaner element for the ram air hood. This V8 was rebuilt with an eye for performance, which includes bored .30 over, a Comp Cams cam, roller rockers, and Mallory distributor. It inhales deeply though an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake. And the full package exhales with authority out of an H-pipe Flowmaster dual exhaust. Making sure this power reliably gets to the ground is a three-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt in 2012. It's a total package that gives you more power than a factory machine, but it's easy enough to go cruising any weekend you want. This is that vintage long-body Mustang of your modern dreams. It's the aggressive Mach 1 with all the right components and even a few nice upgrades. And when it's at such an affordable price, you don't want to let this local boy slip through your fingers.
