1987 Ford F-150 XL 4x4

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 1987 Ford F-150 4x4. The Ford F-Series is the best selling family of trucks for a good reason...and this is it. I would rate the exterior of this F-150 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age. Please keep in mind that this is a 30 year old truck that has clearly been used...so she gets a few points just for still being around and still in service. The two tone red and gray finish looks dull and is an obvious older repaint. Aside from the dull paint, the body looks pretty straight. There is rust through on the rockers and door bottoms and some normal surface rust here and there as you'd expect. Additionally, it looks like the RR corner of the truck took a shot at some point and shows a little damage. The tail gate does not open, I assume as a result of the visible damage to the RR corner of the bed. The original steel wheels look good and are wrapped in a decent set of rubber with average tread all around. Please take your time and check out all of the photos very carefully. If you're looking for a pretty truck, you should keep looking. This truck probably hasn't gotten a compliment on her looks in a decade.

I would also rate the interior of this F-150 to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age. The door panels are present and tight, but look their age. The same can be said for the dash. The carpets show some stains and wear from age but aren't worn out. The headliner is shot. The seat actually looks decent, considering its age. The heater works. The radio is missing. There isn't much to say...it is what it is.

Mechanically, this old truck appears to be in good running and driving condition. It has the desirable 300ci inline six with an automatic trans behind it. She fires right up and runs smoothly. I didn't notice any leaks and the engine doesn't smoke. It seems to idle a tad high...maybe 1,100 rpm (hard to say exactly without a tachometer). The belt chirps a little sometimes but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything. The suspension actually feels pretty solid. The brakes stop this truck with no issues. The steering wonders a little...but it is a 30 year old truck. In true "old Ford" fashion, about half the gauges don't work. The speedometer works, the voltmeter works and the engine temperature gauge works. The oil pressure gauge doesn't work and the jury is still out on the fuel gauge. I know it doesn't work for the back tank. It works on the front but I don't know if it's accurate. The good news is that both tanks work...and both tanks appear to be full. The engine makes good power and keeps a nice, cool temp. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts normally with no issues. Out on the highway, she drives nicely for a 30 year old truck. The 4WD lever is loose and feels like it's not attached to anything...which is probably true as these levers are known to break when they get old. A new one can easily be had online or from most auto parts stores. The odometer currently shows 27,XXX miles. I know it has rolled over so I know it has at least 127k miles, assuming it only rolled over once...hence the 999,999 mileage statement. This truck feels readily road worthy and has a current PA safety and emissions inspection good through the end of September, 2017. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
