RARE 428 "Q" CODE - 345 HP WITH A/C! 2 OWNER - 31000 Original Miles

1966 Ford Thunderbird CONVERTIBLE

I have owned this car for over 10 years. Although the car has only 31,000 miles, about 5 years ago, I had it re-painted the original Saphire Blue which was a 1-year only Thunderbird exclusive color. The only reason it was painted was the original paint was so faded, it was impossible to bring back to life. The interior is all original and features the correct Thunderbird floor mats both front and rear. It has A/C. I had it charged and gone through about 5 years ago, but have really never used it. I believe the top is original too. There were 2 spots when the car was repainted, a slight curb scrape behind the right front wheel and a small spot of rust on the 'flipper panel' that the top is attached to. These can be seen in the pictures.
There is a small paint chip on the hood, I have the paint to fix it. This car is original and thus not a 100% show car. It does win at cruise-ins but probably not AACA events although I have never tried at an AACA event. I am the second registered owner.
Everything is original except the mechanical top relays. Because of their inherent unreliability, they have been replaced with a custom electonic relay system that is extremely reliable. The only thing that is extra on the car that is not on the original build sheet is the right hand outside mirror. This was a dealer installed option.The car came without skirts and has the correct chrome wheel well surrounds. It wears new whitewall radial tires with red lines as shown on the original invoice.
All rubber seals have been replaced including top seals, door seals, main seal, transmission seal etc. I have invoices for all work done by me and also work done by the original owner. The mileage is original and correct.The engine has hardened valve seats so it will run on modern non-leaded gas without any additives.I also have the original Georgia title as well as all books and manuals. These all go with the car. It features several rare options ... 8-track stereo radio with power antenna. The antenna and radio work, the 8 track does not.It is estimated that of the 5066 convertbles built in 1966, only 74 had the 428 with factory A/C. In other words this car is rare indeed. I believe it will be impossible to find a lower mileage one anywhere.
