1907 Ford R

1907 FORD MODEL RTHIS VERY RARE FORD MODEL R IS FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION.
HERE IS WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THE VEHICLE IN GENERAL:
84 INCH WHEELBASE ON 30" X 3" WOODEN WHEELS POWERED BY THE SAME 15 HP MODEL N MOTOR, RUNNING BOARDS (THEREFORE NAMED MODEL "R", WITH FENDERS ATTACHED TO THE RUNNING BOARDS. IT HAS A MECHANICAL OILER, AND A PLANETARY GEAR STEERING REDUCTION. RIGHT AND STEERING WITH HANDBRAKE, HIGH AND LOW TRANSMISSION WITH REVERSE. HALF ROUND DECK WAS CAPABLE OF STORING A SPARE TIRE.
DURING ITS 2 YEAR PRODUCTION IN 1906-1907 2500 MODEL R AUTOMOBILES WERE SOLD NEW FOR $750.
HERE IS WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR AUTOMOBILE:
OWNERSHIP HISTORY:
MANUFACTURED IN KENTUCKY #862 OF APRROX 2500. IT WAS BOUGHT NEW BY A BLACKSMITH IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA IN 1907. THE BLACKSMITH USED THE AUTO AS A DAILY DRIVER UNTIL WORLD WAR 2 IN 1945. IT WAS STORED IN THE BLACKSMITHS SHOP ATTIC UNTIL 1961 WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED BY A CALIFORNIA MAN WHO RETIRED IN MISSOURI. UPON HIS DEATH AT AGE 93, I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2014.
DRIVING/MECHANICAL HISTORY:
THE LAST TIME THE CAR WAS WORKED ON WAS THE 1980'S AND IT REPORTEDLY WAS DRIVEN IN PARADES IN THE EARLY 1990'S BY THE SECOND OWNER. SINCE THEN IT WAS STORED IN AN INDOOR SHOP. OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS, I HAVE DONE MILD CLEANING, AND ACQUIRED A FEW HARD TO FIND MISSING PARTS, BUT THIS IS ALMOST THE CONDITION I FOUND IT IN. AS THE SELLER, I'M THE THIRD OWNER. NO ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MADE. THE FLYWHEEL TURNS FREELY, AS DOES THE CAM, VALVES, ETC. UPON INSPECTION, ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY REBUILT AND CYLINDERS OILED, ALTHOUGH NO OIL IS IN THE CRANKCASE. THE LEATHER SEAT IS ORIGINAL, AND IS SHOWING ITS ORIGINAL HORSEHAIR STUFFING. THE "BREWSTER GREEN" PAINT IS AS I FOUND THE VEHICLE. A HORN WAS ONE OF THE FEW OPTIONS, AND THIS IS THE ORIGINAL. THE BRASS ON THE HORN, RADIATOR, STEERING COLUMN AND LAMPS AND ELSEWHERE ARE IN FANTASTIC CONDITION FOR THEIR AGE. WHILE A TOP WAS AN OPTION, THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH ONE. MECHANICAL OILER TURNS FREELY, BUT THE CAR IS MISSING ITS ONE AND ONLY BELT. THERE ARE NO LEAKS, NOR IS ANYTHING RUSTED, CORRODED, OR FROZEN. SPRINGS, STEERING, AND WHEELS ALL SEEM TO BE IN SOLID AND WORKING CONDITION. BRASS LAMPS, FOR ITS AGE, IT IS REMARKABLE CONDITION. THAT BEING SAID, AS MENTIONED EARLIER, NO ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO START THIS VERY OLD CAR, AND IT HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN BY ME.
TERMS OF SALE:
I REALLY DON'T KNOW MORE ABOUT THE VEHICLE THAN I AM DESCRIBING HERE, SO PLEASE DO NOT INQUIRE. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TECHNICAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CAR, CHANCES ARE I DON'T KNOW. I DO HOWEVER HAVE MANY MORE PICTURES, SO IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING IN PARTICULAR THAT YOU DON'T SEE, YOU CAN INQUIRE THROUGH EBAY. PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES CAREFULLY. I VIEW IT AS MORE OF A MUSEUM PIECE THAN A DRIVEABLE CAR, BUT MANY MAY DISAGREE.
