1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL

With great blue color inside and out, and a big block 390 V8 under the hood, this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible was a car for big shots in the '60s. That kind of presence back then has only grown into a great attention-grabbing attitude as this cruiser has matured into true classic status.Once dominating the NASCAR ovals, this blue Galaxie closely represents the spirit of THE Blue Oval muscle car before we even knew what a muscle car was. Super straight sheetmetal emphasizes the length of the car, and everything fits together so well that it looks tight and muscular, as if the body were stretched over the mechanicals with nothing to spare. The factory-correct Glacier Blue paint job is bright and sophisticated at the same time, especially with the power folding white top. All the chrome is excellent, the ornate grille is extremely nice, and you can see the care that went into keeping this premium Ford looking great. Details like the fender-mounted ornaments, the 390 checkered flag badges on the fenders, and of course, Ford's jet-inspired taillights mean that nobody will mistake this for anything but a senior Ford. And just to make sure this sporty image is maximized, an iconic set of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels were added. The factory-correct blue interior received just as much attention as the exterior in keeping it looking great. This level of care is fantastic to see in the top-of-the-line, full-sized Ford because there's plenty of great bright trim incorporated into the weave of the door panels and seats to makes this a very cool place to spend some time. Bucket seats are a rarity in these family-style Galaxies, and so you'll really enjoy the individual comfort that even comes with a stylized center console. The three-spoke steering wheel with bright inner trim is a vintage favorite, and so is the long horizontal speedometer flanked by the round gauge pods. As you gaze across the dash, you see plenty of great brightwork that makes us all love these big '60s convertibles. But if you look closely, the radio has actually been upgraded so it has an auxiliary input. So now you can play modern tunes in your cool classic convertible. But the best part has to be the power windows. Combined with the power top, it means you can go from covered up to open to the world without having to leave the driver's seat. The fender callouts were not lying, and under the hood is the big 390 cubic-inch V8. This made the Galaxie such a NASCAR darling that there's even a few driver signatures under the hood! A four-barrel carburetor motor of this size has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing the car's cruising attitude. More than just looking show-ready and offering plenty of power, this full drivetrain package has had serious investments into keeping it a great driving machine. For example, the Galaxie's Crusie-O-Matic transmission was rebuilt less than 3,000 miles ago. The brakes were done a few years ago, and a front disc upgrade took place then. Plus, the entire front end was recently rebuilt, including ball joints, bushings and shocks. Add in power steering and BF Goodrich T/A tires, and this is a powerful and comfortable classic convertible. We all know a great looking, big block V8 convertible like this with all the right features won't stay in our showroom long at such an affordable price. The last one we had went quick too. So it's time to call today or regret it tomorrow!
