1966 Shelby Mustang GT350, original drivetrain, unrestored survivor!
This is 1966 Shelby GT350 is a virtual time capsule preserved and passed between collector's hands virtually new. She still possesses her original drive train, sheet metal, interior, etc. The car is unrestored, with only a mild refresh in 1981, the vehicle still wearing 80% of her original paint. Ordered by Ford 6/1966 and sold new through Fogg Motors Ltd. in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. That said, she spent most of her life in Hollywood, California in the private collection of Paramount Pictures Executive, Ned Tanen. Ned produced such car guy films as "American Graffiti", "The Blues Brothers", "Smokey and the Bandit II" and many other blockbusters. In 1991, Ned's long time friend and attorney, Alan Wertheimer assumed ownership and caretaker duties until 1997. From there it sold to Oren Koules and a series of other flippers, eventually landing in the hands of David King of Oakland, CA.
David then sold it to the current owner in 2003 who has kept it under cover in climate controlled storage, recommissioning the car for road use within the past year. The car is well optioned with the rear seat, 10 spoke wheels, woodgrain steering wheel, LeMans stripe, and of course the Cast Iron Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission. The car was formally inspected by an MCA Gold Card Judge who specializes in '65 - '66 Shelbys. He concurs that this is a very well preserved example. As they say, it is only original once!
The car is photographed wearing both her original 10-spoke wheels, as well as, a set of period correct Shelby/Cragar 5 spokes with fresh meats so it could be driven and recommissioned for road use. The documentation is extensive between the Shelby documentation, original owner's manual, and SAAC historical registry information.
