IMPORTANT...Place cursor on an image and then Keep Scrolling "Down" to see over 150 images! (Caution: The "" will only show a sampling of pictures!)

GENERAL BACKGROUND

  • Built in Ford Atlanta Plant...delivered to Colorado...excellent car with no evidence of rust
  • Less than 9000 miles since restoration...less than 1000 miles on engine
  • Winner of many major awards...including Best in Class
  • Awesome cruiser...has been very reliable...quiet and "tight" body/greenhouse
  • Great vintage look...but with the ride & handling of a late model car
  • Estimated cost to commission the duplication of this frame-off restoration would be close to $100,000 (if not more)
  • IMPORTANT NOTE...the "Salsa Red" paint is a very deep and rich red. The first seven images of the car portray this color particularly well...but some of the other images don't capture the color as accurately due to changing light conditions and the limitations of digital cameras - many of which cannot consistently capture red.

DRIVETRAIN

  • 460-cid bored to 472-cid
  • 497HP @ 5800 RPM
  • 513lbs Torque @ 4200 RPM
  • 429 Super Cobra Jet heads (lots of port and polish work)
  • FPA Ceramic-coated headers
  • Blue Thunder dual-4BBL midrise intake with Holley 450s
  • Custom Cold Air intake with hidden air filters
  • COMP cam 294s radical idle w/good power band for street - rocker rollers
  • Balanced and blue-printed engine
  • MSD billet distributor & MSD 6al Ignition Box with rev limiter
  • Motor is impressive - very "streetable" and pleasant to drive with a nice idle and great oil pressure - but also has plenty of power when needed with no hesitation or bog when opened-up...sounds awesome!
  • Rugged Ford C6 automatic transmission with 3000 stall speed heavy-duty clutches and excellent shifting characteristics
  • Ford 9" rear-end with 3.50 gears, posi 28 spline axles, traction bars - powder coated

SUSPENSION & TIRES

  • Gearheads Cruiser Products quick-ratio modern Power Steering update
  • Fatman drop spindles...big sway-bar...all new bushings when restored
  • Restored with new leaf springs and bushings
  • CPP 4-wheel disc brakes (13" front/12" rear) with upgraded powder coated red calipers

BODY DETAILS

  • Hi-end show-quality Salsa Red finish
  • Excellent panel and door fit tolerances...new hinges, seals, felts

  • Sleek shaved-handle treatment w/remote poppers & emergency back-up

INTERIOR DETAILS

  • Very comfortable reclining bucket seats with choice of lap belt or safety harness
  • Custom center console with drink holders and tasteful Autometer gauges
  • Beautifully finished dash - with new speedo and many NOS parts
  • Odometer was zeroed when restored...engine has less than 1000 miles
  • Vintage Air w/all hoses routed out of site for clean look
  • Full Dynamat sound-proofing
  • Rockin' audio with 6-channel amp, Focus speakers, CD/AM/FM by remote

ELECTRICAL

  • Professional Painless Performance wiring job - well grounded & protected
  • Remote keyless entry with door poppers
  • Optima battery (in hidden trunk compartment)
  • All lights, gauges and electrical items work properly with no issues

SOME MINOR IMPERFECTIONS

  • Very slight but normal wear from driving...like a new car after 6 months
  • Rear bumper bolts were over-tightened and caused slight chrome cracks
  • For optimal AC, we have been charging every year (small refrigerant leak)
  • Posi unit is intermittent...works fine for awhile...but increasingly will go out...will likely need a new clutch pack to handle torque
  • Two small cracks in lower left of front passenger's door window (see image strip at left)

3A61X183344 VIN# DECODING...3 (1963 Model Year) A (Atlanta Assembly Plant) 61 (Galaxie 500 2-door Sedan) X (352-cid V8 w/1-2BBL) 183344 (Production Sequence Number)

DATAPLATE NOTE: The 28th image shows the original - worn - dataplate that came with the car. The previous owner/restorer had a reproduction dataplate with like new appearance installed in the original's place (on the driver's door, shown in the image strip at left). The correct VIN number was used on the new plate, but some other codes (for reasons unknown) were changed, perhaps to more closely reflect the current paint and interior colors. It will be the new owner's choice whether to retain the current reproduction dataplate, or have a new one produced which is identical to the original.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE...as Ford's high-volume answer to the Chevrolet Impala, the Galaxie has earned its place in Ford history. In 1962, Ford used the Galaxie name for all of its full-size offerings. The squared-roof "boxtop" Galaxie 500 2-door sedans were set-off with very impressive stainless and aluminum trim. Solid examples such as this painstakingly restored example are getting harder and harder to find.

IMPORTANT IMAGE NOTES: To fully illustrate this amazing 1963 Galaxie 500, there are well over 150 images. The first 29 images are intended to give a quick overall presentation of the car from a variety of vantage points. Then, there are specific sets of images (for serious buyers) that show great detail in these areas: Exterior, Interior, Engine Compartment, Wheels/Tires/Undercarriage.

Seasoned collectors and enthusiasts know that to really "know" a car, a close-up look all around it is a MUST!

To see ALL the images...you MUST place your cursor on an image - allow plenty of time for all images to download - and then scroll slowly ALL the way to the bottom.
CAUTION: if you use the scroller to the FAR RIGHT of your screen or the "Click to view image album" feature...you will NOT see all the images.

ABOUT ME: I am an avid car enthusiast. After retiring from 30 years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company, I formed Murphy Endeavors, LLC and began buying and selling classic cars as a collector and for friends and clients. Please note that I have had 2,666 eBay transactions with happy folks and have sold classic cars to eBay customers in Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Germany, Australia, Russia, Canada, Japan, and throughout the United States.
IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS & CONDITIONS OF SALE...the Buyer will receive a Notarized Bill of Sale and the original Georgia Title.

Though this 1963 Galaxie 500 has been rebuilt/refinished/restored to extremely high standards - it remains a 53 year-old automobile. The need for repairs and maintenance with any vehicle is an ongoing activity - often required without notice. Therefore, this sale is strictly on an as-is and final basis with no warranties or liabilities expressed or implied.

ODOMETER NOTE: As part of the restoration of this vehicle, the mileage was reset to zero. The mileage indicated is the mileage driven since restoration...NOT the mileage driven since the car was built in 1963 (which is impossible to determine due to the design limitations of the odometer).. Less than 1000 miles have been driven with the installed 460/bored to 472-cid engine..

Every effort has been made to present this classic car completely and accurately to the best of our knowledge and resources, but errors and oversights are possible. Therefore, pre-purchase examination of the vehicle (if desired) is welcomed before the listing's end and can be easily arranged by appointment.
