The RestoMod craze gained national attention in the eighties particularly with Mustangs. 5.0 Liter V-8's and 5-Speed transmission were yanked out of Fox body pony cars and dropped into first generation Mustangs making a mark on the Hot Rod scene with updated driving dynamics. That led to 4 wheel disc brakes, updated suspension components, larger diameter wheels, stickier tires, updated body mods, and more. By the turn of the century they became purpose built cars with the likes of Chip Fosse and a host of other builders showcasing amazing classic cars with modern amenities. We now see RestoMods bring as much or more than numbers matching originals. The Mustang you see here really fits the bill. With just over 16,200 miles since being transformed, this great looking convertible is a blast to drive! It has all the must haves of a truly updated classic. The small block Ford motor was bored & stroked to 347 cubic inches then aluminum heads, intake, Holley 4 barrel, MSD ignition, and headers were added. It has a good power band and the 5-speed shifts smoothly. The suspension was updated with 4 wheel disc brakes, sub frame connectors, 17 inch American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels, and radial tires. The only mods to the body, other than new paint, were the removal of the government mandated side marker lights that really always looked kinda out of place on a 68 model. The black bucket seat interior is very nice. When restored it received new fabrics, carpet, dash pad, digital gauge package, and Kenwood sound. Custom kick panels up front, rear speakers, dual Rockford Fosgate amps, and a nice set of subs were mounted in the trunk encased with a custom carpeted box. This car sounds great with a deep throaty note belching from the headers and dual high performance exhaust system. This is a very cool car! Hit the power top button, lower the top, and hit the road in style. Everyone should own a Mustang sometime in their life. Might as well make it an updated one that you can really enjoy.
