1960 Ford Galaxie Starliner

1960 Ford Starliner Project car. Ive owned this car for 15 years or more, o its very hard for me to list this car for sale, ts one of my favorite body styles. To start with I want to make it very clear, his car started life as a base fairlane 4 door sedan model. I purchased a very rough starliner, sed the roof, nd doors, ect. to convert this to what you see. Ive had this licensed, nd titled as a 4 door, or all these years, n my state, nd had no issues with it. The title matches the numbers on the car, also have the title to the 2 door hardtop parts car I used. If you have a problem with this, understand, o do not, id on this expecting anything different, han what I have described, bout the paper work. This isnt your average looking Starliner, ith all the washboard trim, nd do-dads that most starliners have on them, y starting with a simple fairlane, t really cleans the car up, nd makes it look like "an all business " car. It has what I think is a sinister look, can not drive this without getting, omments, ike, hat kind of car is that? Wow, hats cool! Ect.
I had plans to build this as a "what if" car. My plan was to build it, s something similar, o what ford may have built as a drag car, n the full size body, efore they built the ThunderBolt fairlane. The plan was to build a roll cage, nd seating similar to the thunderbolt, nd keep the interior, ery sparse, ike a drag car. Use a big block, nd 4 speed for plenty of torque, hile maintaining the sleeper look. a good plan, ts well on its way, ut, till needs plenty finished and someone to follow through, r finish it your way. This car runs great and I have driven it a lot in the past, ut it has set, he last few years, lways started, egularly, ut not many miles put on it.Engine is a 1983 truck 460 bored .030 with a mild RV hydraulic lifter cam, ith Edelbrock intake and carb. This was completely overhauled, hen I first built it, ot cheap to do, ith a 460 engine. If I had to guess, t probably has around ten thousand miles on the engine, ot sure because the speedometer isnt working. Trans is a 1969 mustang, oploader 4 speed. Rear is a original 60 ford 9" with 3:00 gears,non-posi, eally needs a lot lower gear ratio, ts great for gas mileage, ut does hurt the torque curve a lot. this car will get around 18 mpg on the highway, hats unheard of for the 460 engine, hey usually are known for passing about everything, ut a gas station it has dual exhaust, o the rear of car. Wheels are 15" x 6" front, 5" x 8" rear, ew from jegs, ith 49-50 Ford hubcaps. New tires, ithin the last year. Car will come with a set of Halibrand Swirl wheels, ith knock off spinners, ith good tires mounted.I change wheels and tire sometimes for a completely different look. If you have never heard of Halibrand wheels, our not a hot rodder, ook these and the three bar knock off spinners up, ere on e-bay, ou will soon find out these are not cheap. I have included some pictures of the car with these wheels on it, o you can see what they look like on the car.The body will need finish work, ut over all its a pretty straight car. Modifications, re as follows, op is chopped 1 1/2" from stock starliner roof height. thats adds to the look, nd really shows up parked, ext to a stock height starliner, ost people, now something, appened, nd like the look, ut its a mild chop and doesnt look extremely radical. Front and rear glass is installed, ut there are no windows in the doors. All the side door and rear quarter, lasses, ill need the frames re-cut and re-welded, o match the chopped roof line. The rear fender wells have been radiused. There is minor rust issues, t lower rear of front fenders, runk floor, ormal on 60 fords, nd some minor floor pan rust in rear passenger floorboard foot area, ut none of this is major. Some of the pictures I took, he car is wet, o give anyone without an imagination, ow good the body lines or how well this would look with a decent black paint job. Its basically old flat paint and primer, s seen in the pictures, ere the car is dry. There is very little interior, he seats are, ord van, planned to re-do 60s style, o carpet, oor panels or headliner.I have the original bench seats from the starliner, nd there is a picture of these seats, n the car,and they will go with the car, f you like. Again, was planning on a drag car type interior.I will include all the extra, tarliner, rim I have with the car, f the buyer wants it, xtra grill, ther trim, ct.So if you been looking for a 60s Ford muscle car, nd one that gets a lot of attention, ere it is, his is a big head start on doing so, ut if your not a do-it your selfer, ave no skills or cant pay to get it done, ou better pass on this one.Again, eally dont want to sell, his, ut looking for a change, f your a serious buyer,or have a trade, hat fits, y description, elow, hen, ontact me at 6sixzero-3four6-8six7one and we can talk.
